MOBERLY -- Marshall junior Lindsey Sullivan made it through the Class 1, District 5 Tournament to reach the next stage of the MSHSAA girls' golf post-season.

Sullivan shot a 106 on Moberly's Heritage Hills Country Club course to finish ninth in the 53-entry field. The top two teams were the host Lady Spartans (410 points) and Mexico (419) automatically qualified for the sectional meet, along with the top 15 players not on those squads. Of those, Sullivan came in fifth.

It wasn't an easy round for Sullivan. She had a par and two birdies through the first seven holes, but then shot nine over par on the last two going out. However, she regrouped on the back nine, only once posting any score over a double-bogey.

Sullivan had a par, four bogeys and a double for a tally of 49 coming in -- after scoring 57 on the front nine.

The Lady Owls were ninth out of 10 teams with a total of 545 points. Freshman Margaret Miles placed 30th with a 128, six strokes over the cut-off. Junior Kalie Cowart posted a 146, junior Caitlin Crawford completed the team score with a 165 and freshman Sarah Bentley shot 169.

Moberly sophomore Nichole Marquis took the individual title with a 17-over-par 87, one stroke ahead of Harrisburg senior Amy Thornhill.

Marshall will close the season as a team during the NCMC Tournament, Oct. 10 at Moberly. Sullivan will head to Chillicothe on Monday for the Section 3 Tournament at Green Hills Golf Course.
