Elvira M. Drunert, age 92, of Sedalia, passed away Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sedalia with Reverend Jeremy Freeman officiating. Pallbearers will be Eric Drunert, Scott Rambo, Jeff Knott, Rex Livingston, George Jasper and Jerry Schellhorn. Honorary pallbearers will be Linda Garner, Marsha Noll, Janet Livingston, Jennifer Jasper, Amy Rambo and Julie Schellhorn. Interment will follow at La Monte Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Paul's Lutheran Church and can be left in care of Moore Funeral Home in La Monte.
Born July 2, 1920, in rural Alma, she was the daughter of Arthur and Elda (Frantz) Fuchs. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alma. On Feb. 20, 1943, in Alma, she was united in marriage to Myron H. Drunert, who preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 1998.
Myron and Elvira first farmed in rural Waverly and then in 1956 they moved the family to La Monte where they purchased a service station and grocery business. In 1970 the business closed when the highway was expanded to four lanes. She then worked as a postal clerk in La Monte until her retirement in 1982. She was a long-time member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sedalia.
She is survived by one son, Larry Drunert and his wife, Gladys, of Warsaw; one daughter, Janice Knott and her husband, John, of Marshall; one sister in-law, Garnell Speed Erwin of Oakland, Calif.; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and one step great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one great-granddaughter.
