Marshall schools and Fitzgibbon Hospital are getting ready for the annual "Football in Pink" football game between the Marshall Owls and Truman Patriots, scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at the Marshall High School athletic complex.
The annual Football in Pink game, originally sponsored by Fitzgibbon Hospital and the Marshall Public Schools, has fostered many activities in the Marshall area, including the Powder Puff flag football game between employees of Marshall Public Schools and employees and friends of Fitzgibbon Hospital.
Activities this year will also include freshman and junior varsity football games against Moberly, varsity and junior varsity volleyball games and varsity and junior varsity soccer matches.
New for this year, Pink Week organizers will host a "Get Your Color On!" walk/run event. The event is intended to increase awareness of both prostate cancer and breast cancer and will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, at Indian Foothills Park in Marshall.
Ron Ott, President and CEO of Fitzgibbon Hospital, said everyone in the organization is proud of what the community has accomplished over the past several years.
