Zella May Blackwell, 80, of Marshall, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at The Living Center in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery. Born May 15, 1932, in Saline County, she was the daughter of the late James R. Gibson and Opal V. Sims Gibson. On Feb. 4, 1950, she married Donald L. Blackwell, who preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 2005. She had lived in Saline County her entire life where she was a homemaker. As well as being a homemaker, she had worked at Johnson's Nursing Home and Mar-Saline Manor. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Donnie Blackwell and his wife, Cathy, of Marshall, and Ronnie Blackwell and his companion, Ruby Wall, of Plant City, Fla.; one daughter, Wanda Jasper and her husband, Lee, of Sweet Springs; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers: J.R., Leroy, and Junior Gibson; and two sisters, Mary McDonnell and Joyce Mills.
