Everette Banks, 74, of Marshall, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Marshall. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Born Dec. 9, 1937, in Slater, he was the son of the late Phillice Wright and Cecil Banks. He joined St. Paul Baptist Church at an early age. He was educated in the public school system, upon graduation from Slater High School in 1955 he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served for six years. He met and married his wife, Mary, in 1966, she survives of the home. He was in business for himself starting his own cleaning company, E&M Building Maintenance, in the 1960s, which was still in operation until his death.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one stepson, Robert Conway and his wife, Mary, of Kansas City; two stepgrandchildren, Kevin Conway of Olympia Fields, Ill., and Dana Kindle and her husband, Wayne, of Lees Summit; three step great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda King of Kansas City, Madeline Smith of Las Vegas, Nev.; three brothers, Robert W. Banks and his wife, Christine, Eugene Maupin Jr. and his wife, Edna, all of Kansas City, Kan., and Rowland Maupin of Las Vegas; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Gwendolyn Fuller and Doris Allen; and one brother, Robert C. Banks.
