Wendy Ann Smith Apel, 48, of Sweet Springs, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Sweet Springs. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Friday, and the family will receive friends from noon until time of the service. Born Feb. 12, 1964, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late Elmer C. Smith and Mae Bailey Smith. On Feb. 10, 2005, she married Charles Henry (Charlie) Apel, who survives of the home. She was a dedicated employee of Sweet Springs Villa, where she worked as a nurses' aid and in the kitchen for 26 years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Justin Lee Sherman of Las Vegas, Nev.; one daughter, Nicole Lynn Sherman of Warsaw; seven brothers, Eugene, Robert, Charles, Jimmy and Dale Smith, Rick and Carroll Ray Bailey; three sisters, Claudia Bayne, Margaret Mullins and Wanda Garrison, her twin sister; along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Dennis Bailey; and one sister, Frances Bailey.
