Vernon A. (Shortie) Conrad, 87, of rural Marshall, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Rev. Vernon Maxted officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. After the burial friends may call at the home of Jeanne Parkhurst, 902 Sandy Lane in Marshall. Memorials may be made to Marshall Public Education Foundation. Born Dec. 26, 1924, in Brunswick, he was the son of the late Pete Conrad and Marie Conrad Parkhurst. On Nov. 6, 1948, he married Bonnie Carroll who survives of the home. He had lived in Saline County most of his life and was a farmer.
In addition to his wife, Bonnie, he is survived by two daughters, Jeanne Parkhurst and her husband, Doug, and Janice Pace and her husband, Mike, all of Marshall; six grandchildren, Angela, Chad and Jill Parkhurst and Matthew, Brandon and Hannah Pace; one sister, Evelyn Bailey and her husband, Howard, of Marshall; and two nephews.
In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by one brother, Melvin Conrad.
