JOPLIN -- Marshall senior Bryan Mach recovered from a difficult start to tie for 25th place in the Missouri Golf Association's Junior College Preview Invitational, held Monday and Tuesday at Joplin.
Mach shot an 11-over-par 83 on the Twin Hills Country Club course during the opening round, but gradually improved his scores over the next two segments -- carding a 79 and three-over 75, sharing fourth-place in the third and final round.
His total tally of 237 put him in a tie with Tarkio's Derek Rohlfson for 25th in a field of 38 elite junior golfers from around the state. Miles Aduddell of Ozark won the event with a 217, three strokes ahead of Hartsburg's Blake Lammers.
Mach qualified for the meet, which offers college scouts the opportunity, to look over prospective recruits, by the winning the Hieronymous Junior Series 16- to 18-year-old division championship earlier this month.
