William L. "Bill" Arni, 86, of Independence, passed away Aug. 4, 2012.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday Aug. 9, 2012, at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., in Independence. Interment with full military honors will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to The American Heart Association, 6800 W. 93rd St., Overland Park, KS 66212. He was born Feb. 10, 1926, in Marshall, where he grew up. He is a U. S. Navy veteran of WWII. During his career in the oil business, he worked for Franklin Oil Co. for 32 years and later worked for Peeler Oil Co., Parker OiI Co. and CarQuest. He was married to Helen Arni for 59 years, who survives of the home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Jerry Norris and his wife, Terry, of Independence; his daughters, Ann Arni of Independence, Carol Ranck and her husband David, of Blue Springs; daughter-in-law, Roxanna Arni of Independence; his sister, Dora Alice Shannon and her husband, Carter, of Marshall; her brothers, Marion Arni and his wife Donna, of Marshall, Rev. Martin Arni and his wife, Elizabeth, of the state of Illinois and Larry Arni and his wife, Barbara, of the state of Idaho; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughters, Catherine Arni and Amy Arni; and son, Tony Arni.
