Bobby G. Thompson, 82, of Sherman, Texas, formerly of Slater, died Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City.
Memorial services will be Saturday, July 28, at 11 a.m. at the Weiker Funeral Home in Slater with Rev. Bruce Hess officiating. Burial will be in the Gilliam Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Vitas Hospice Inpatient Unit.
Born Oct. 15, 1929, in Freedom, he was the son of the late Otto and Blanche Cox Thompson. On June 24, 1950, in Gilliam, he married Mary Louise Skinner, who proceeded him in death on Dec. 12, 2010.
Thompson was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church in Sherman, Texas. He retired from Lockheed Martin in Denver, Colo. as a group engineer. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and had served in the National Guard.
He is survived by a son, Brent Thompson and wife, Suzanne of Old Lyme, Conn., two daughters, Diane Clark and her husband, Bruce, of Sherman, Texas, and Trisha Forson and her husband, Rob, of Plano, Texas; four grandchildren; a brother, James Thompson of Higginsville; and a sister, Betty Hays of Slater. He was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Schieszer.
