Leola Belle Cooper, 89, of Marshall, died Sunday, July 22, 2012, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and David Van Horn.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 26, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fitzgibbon-Mary Montgomery Hospice. Born Aug. 30, 1922, in rural Slater, she was the daughter of the late Francis Marian Fizer and Rosalee Warson Fizer. On April 1, 1945, in Marshall, she married Cedric Cooper, who preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 1987. She was a member of Miami Methodist Church, and she served as a cook at Miami R-1 School for several years prior to moving to Marshall to cook at the Marshall Senior Center for more than 10 years.
Survivors include five children, Larry Cooper and wife, Linda, of Slater; Marlene Van Horn and husband, David, of Marshall; R.W. Cooper and wife, Paula, of Thompson; Kathy Pulliam and husband, Jay, of Saline City; and Brenda Howerton and husband, Brett, of Ozark; one sister, Freda Hayes of the state of Pennsylvania; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a few great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister; and six brothers.
