Bringing the only original songs to the stage, Tanner Bechtel of Boonville wooed the crowd Wednesday evening with acoustic rhythms and energy.

Bechtel's performance earned him first place in the KMMO ConAgra Texaco Country Showdown.

People filtered into the ampitheatre, leaned back in their seats and cheered on the 10 contestants.

Saline County was well represented, with five of the 10 singers from Marshall and Slater. Slater's Shyanne Sellers came in a close second, and the band Mile 1 from Sedalia placed third.

Others competing included Kate Arnold, Roberta Reynold, Brittney Allison of Marshall, Julia Grace of Marshall, Bathseba Love of Marshall, Rachael Arnold and Jessica Johnson of Marshall.
