Former Marshall thrower Cortni Ervin recently completed her junior year of eligibility with the University of Missouri track and field team.

The Lady Owls' record-holder in the shot put -- set at 43 feet, 4.5 inches while winning the 2007 Class 3, District 4 title -- has competed for the Tigers the last three years after a red-shirt season following her '08 graduation from MHS.

The business major placed fourth in the weight throw (18.77 meters/61 feet, 7 inches) and 12th in the shot put (14.14/46-4.75) during the Big 12 Indoor Championships earlier this year at College Station, Texas. At the Big 12 Outdoor meet, Ervin set personal records in two events, placing ninth in the hammer throw (54.03/177-3) and 11th in the shot (15.01/49-3).

Ervin also took part in the conference championships during her freshman and sophomore campaigns and earned an Academic All-Big 12 honor in 2010. She won three state medals in the shot put for the Lady Owls, placing third twice.
