James Root, 79, formerly of Blackwater, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012, in Hemet, Calif.
Cremation. A private ceremony will be held with burial in the Veterans Cemetery in Riverside, Calif.
Born April 13, 1933, in Blackwater, he was the son of the late Harry Harrison Root and Anna Margaret Cornine Root. He attended school in Blackwater and graduated from Boonville High School in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean era. He moved to Encinitas, Calif., in the early 1960s. He formerly worked at McGraw Edison in Boonville and retired from aerospace leader Teledyne Kinetics and retired to Hemet, Calif. On June 22, 1963, he married Theresa (Terri) Stevenne Ballard who survives of the home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his stepdaughter, Sandra Ballard Viola of Australia; one sister-in-law, Ruby Root Trefz of College Station, Texas; several nephews, Edward Root, Ronald Root, Michael Root, George Root Jr., Kenneth Root and Roger Root; several nieces, Paula Root Waters, Gayle Root Purcell, Theresa Root Lammers, Kathleen Root Tavenner Meisenheimer and Barbara Root Drechsel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles William, Foster Leroy, George William, William Lee (Billy), Paul Eldon and Guy H.; sister-in-laws, Marjorie Ludwig Root and Nancy Mullins Root Scott; three nephews, Thomas Root, Paul Root Jr. and Steven Root; one niece, Patty Jo Root Jenry.
