Marshall senior-to-be Bryan Mach currently resides in second place in the season standings for the Missouri Golf Association's Hieronymous Junior Series. Mach shot a five-over-par 77 during Monday's round on Green Hills Golf Course at Chillicothe, one stroke behind Warrensburg's Taylor Woods and two strokes ahead of Blake Scharb of Trenton. Through four of the eight preliminary events, Mach has accumulated 80 points during his three rounds and is only 10 points behind Ian Barnes of Licking -- who has competed in four matches -- in the 16- to 18-year-old age group. The top players of the series will play in the championships on Aug. 1 at Fulton. The next round will be July 16 at Boonville. Meanwhile, Mach is entered in the Missouri Junior Amateur Championships, to be held Monday and Tuesday at Paradise Pointe Golf Course in Smithville. He is paired for the first round with Class 4, District 6 champion Nick Yuhas of Joplin and Shell Knob's Donald Stimble. (Chris Allen/Democrat-News)
