OMAHA -- Notre Dame junior Mason Weber's second attempt at qualifying for the London Olympic Games fell short Thursday.
The former Marshall all-American had entered Thursday's time trials of the 200-meter breaststroke at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Omaha after finishing 117th in the 100 breast three days earlier.
Weber, competing for the Fighting Irish Swim Club, was eighth in his heat and 10th out of 13 overall entries with a time of 2:29.47, slower than his seeded mark of 2:27.99. Wisconsin's Alexander Gianino had the top time in the trial at 2:20.19.
A pre-med major, Weber has one year of eligibility remaining at Notre Dame.
