Lena E. Wilhite, 84, of Marshall Junction, died Friday, June 22, 2012, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Rev. Bill Cook officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hazel Grove Cemetery in Herndon. Memorials may be made to the MASC Board. Born April 4, 1928, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late Elza C. Pope and Margaret Jane Keith Pope. On July 12, 1947, in Sedalia, she married Marvin F. Wilhite who preceded her in death on April 4, 1987. She had lived in Saline County her entire life and was a member of New Salem Baptist Church at Marshall Junction. She retired from Banquet Foods after 21 years of service and volunteered for 16 years at Marshall Senior Center where she served on the MASC Board.
Survivors include five children, Linda Houston and her husband, Dave, of Higginsville, Marvin N. (Vinnie) Wilhite of the home, George L. Wilhite and his wife, Marilyn, of Clinton, Raymond B. Wilhite and his wife, Beverly, of Marshall and Paul Wilhite and his wife, Janet, of Marshall Junction; daughter-in-law, Shirley Wilhite of Holts Summit; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandsons; one brother, Charles Pope of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Larry J. Wilhite; two grandsons, Quinn Houston and Raymond Wilhite II; two great-grandsons, Nicholas R. Russell and Raymond Wilhite III; two brothers, John Pope and Harvey Pope; and one sister, Bertha May Pope.
