E. Benedick Samson, 77, of rural Marshall, died Friday, June 22, 2012, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to Marshall Public Library in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Born Sept 11, 1934, in Miami, he was the son of the late Conrad Samson and Martha Benedick Samson. On Aug. 2, 1958, he married Maryann Samson who survives of the home. He had lived in Saline County his entire life and was a farmer.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Maryann Redelfs and her husband, Kirk, of Columbia, Susan King and her husband, David, of Oelwein, Iowa, E. Benedick Samson II and his wife, Nancy, of St. Charles, Lisa Samson-Fang and her husband, John, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jennifer Samson of St. Louis and Sarah Samson of Columbia; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Eric Joseph Samson; one sister, Edith Jo Gieringer; and six brothers, Ray, Ben, Bill, Clarence, Phillip and Conrad Samson.
