Ramona Jo (Cameron) Downs, 63, of Raytown, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012, at home surrounded by her family.
Funeral services were held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at Floral Hills Funeral Home in Kansas City. Visitation was held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at Shawnee Bend Cemetery in Warsaw. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to www.thefamilyconservancy.org/make-a-gift.... Born August 8, 1948, she was the daughter of Earl and Joan (Cantrell) Cameron of Monett. She graduated from Raytown South High School in 1966, was a 1970 graduate of University of Missouri-Columbia and completed her Master's Degree in Early Childhood at UMKC in 1974.
She worked for the Kansas City Missouri School District, UMKC Child Development Center, was director of Shawnee Mission Head Start, and most recently was the director of quality initiatives at The Family Conservancy in Kansas City, Kan. She was married to John Thomason from 1971 to 1978. In 1981 she married Robert Downs, who survives of the home.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children Timothy Thomason and his wife, Ruthann, of Blackhawk, Colo., Amanda Campbell and her husband, Dan, and David Downs and his wife, Karen, all of Blue Springs, and Danny Downs and his wife, Heather, of Portsmouth, Ohio; grandchildren, Tyler and his wife, Cynthia, Abbey, Damien, Noah, Emery, Evan, Anna, Elliana, Cameron and Isaac; her brother, Rod Cameron and his wife, Sally; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
