Flag Day observed throughout Marshall
On June 14, 1777, the Continental Congress adopted the Stars and Stripes as the national flag. One hundred years later, the first Flag Day observance was held. Today, flags wave throughout Marshall where residents and businesses have subscribed to the Chamber of Commerce's Partners in Patriotism program. For an annual fee of $30, program organizers place a 3-foot by 5-foot American flag on participants' lawns on six holidays.
