Nellie Marqueta Fizer, 83, of Slater, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at The Living Center in Marshall.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Slater City Cemetery with Rev. Robert Sisney officiating. Pallbearers will be Jack McCabe, Nicholas Merit, Donald Fizer Jr., Steve McCabe, Tyler Bishop and Andrew Weiher. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
Born Jan. 16, 1929, in Slater, she was the daughter of the late Edward Berlekamp and Sarah Etta Munchton Berlekamp Kemper. On Oct. 4, 1947, in Sedalia, she married Henry L. Fizer who preceded her in death on March 3, 2002. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Slater. She worked at Lightfoot Box and Veneer for many years before retiring from BHA in Slater.
She is survived by a son, Donald Fizer of rural Slater; a daughter, Henrietta Krog of Slater; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles (Chili) Berlekamp and George (Tippy) Berlekamp, both of Slater; and a sister, Joan Bennington of Slater.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant brother.
