Ilene Brashear, 87, of Marshall, formerly of Calhoun, died Friday, May 25, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at First Christian Church in Marshall with visitation one hour prior to the service. Graveside services were at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Calhoun Cemetery in Calhoun. Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church of Marshall in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. Born Aug. 4, 1924, in Calhoun, she was the daughter of the late Lyle Wallace Dannatt and Elsie Farmer Dannatt. On Feb. 16, 1943, in Warrensburg, she married Donald W. Brashear who preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 2002. She lived in Calhoun most of her life where she was a cook for Calhoun Public School for 32 years. While in Calhoun she was a member of Calhoun Christian Church and when she moved to Marshall in 2000, she joined the First Christian Church in Marshall. In addition to being a current member of the church, she was a member of the New Century Sunday school class, Lillie Bates Circle and Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna Smith and her husband, Duffer, of Marshall; two granddaughters, Debbie Tucker and husband, Brennan, Leslee McCabe and her husband, Dru; and four great-grandchildren, Braden and Dawson Tucker, and Laney and Austen McCabe.
