The Marshall Junior Tennis program will begin its summer season on May 29, meeting Mondays through Thursdays until June 27.
Junior tennis is open to anyone from the age of 8 years through high school with previous tennis experience. Registration will be held the first day of class, with the fee $60 per member.
The classes will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. for ages 8 to 10, 9:30-10:45 a.m. from 11- and 12-year-olds and 10:45 a.m. to 12 noon for the 13-14 group -- all at the Indian Foothills Park courts. The high schoolers will meet from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursdays at the Marshall High facility.
High-school age players may also convene at 10:45 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday for an additional $30 if also attending the evening sessions.
There will be four informal round-robin tournaments during the morning sessions, tentatively scheduled for June 5, 12, 19 and 26. A tennis "fun day" is set for June 25 from 8:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
The Parent/Child Tournament is scheduled for June 18 at the park courts for the 8-10 and 11-12 age groups, with the 13-14 and high school divisions on June 20 at the MHS courts. The start times each day is 5:30 p.m. for the younger players and 7:30 p.m. for the older.
The Indian Foothills Park Holiday Tournament is June 28 for singles and June 29 for doubles and a quick-start clinic for ages 5 through 8 on May 29-31 from 10:46 a.m. to noon.
