Eugene Douglas Inman, 85, of Independence, passed away Friday, May 11, 2012.

Born on April 18, 1927, in Ottawa, Kan., he was an Army veteran of WWII. He was a former mayor and magistrate judge in Waverly, where he was also active in the Masons and the VFW. He was an elder in the Community of Christ Church, and a member of the New Walnut Park Congregation.
He is survived by his children, Kenton D. Inman and his wife, Anna, and Julia A. Jones, all of Independence; his grandchildren, Troy and Lala Inman of Kansas City, Victoria Ann Jones of Bothall, Wash., and Seth Allen Inman of Ft. Benning, Ga.; his great-grandchildren, Gilberto, Kathryn and Cale; his brother, Hugh O. Inman of Kansas City and his sister, Anna Hurlburt of Lincoln; his brothers-in-law, Buddy Taylor and his wife, Liz, of Lake Charles, La., and Ted Taylor and his wife, Mitzi, of Floranopolis, Brazil.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois; his parents, Hugh and Hettie; and a brother, Bernie.
