Senior Allea Summers got a "golden goal" Tuesday to give the Marshall girls' soccer team a 2-1 non-conference home decision over the School of the Osage.
The Mount Holyoke (Mass.) recruit ended a stretch of 51 scoreless minutes with her team-high sixth goal of the season. Summers' shot from outside the penalty box came in the eighth minute of overtime.
The Lady Owls got on the board in the 27th minute of the first half when junior Jenny Najera dribbled nearly 30 yards through four defenders for a one-on-one with the goalkeeper, cashing in for fourth time this season.
The Lady Indians tied the match on freshman Megan Atkin's 30-yard direct kick with three minutes remaining in the first half.
Although Osage (14-7-1) held a 7-4 edge in shots on goal, junior Ellen Woolsey came up with six stops for the Birds -- who have scored in six straight matches, after being shut out in nine of their first 11 games.
Marshall (2-15) will be on the road Thursday for an NCMC clash at Mexico.
