Carol Jean Bryant Delzell Stewart, 73, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Saline County, died Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Mount Carmel Medical Center in Columbus.
Cremation. Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. Monday, April 30, 2012, at Lower Lights Community Church of the Nazarene in Columbus with Pastor Mike Vallangeon officiating. Visitation was held from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Franklinton Historical Society, 192 S. Princeton Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43223 or to a charity of the donors choice.
Born Dec. 22, 1938, in Kansas City, she was the daughter of the late Margaret Moore and Edward Hill. In January 1968, she married Ralph Stewart. She graduated from Nelson High School in Nelson. She was self-employed. She was the founding member of the Franklinton Area Commission, Franklinton Historical Society and Franklinton Development Association. She also volunteered to help families affected by suicide. She was recently honored by Mayor Michael Coleman at the 2012 State of the City address.
She is survived by two daughters, Debra Delzell and Sandra McCarty, both of Columbus; two sons, Mark Delzell and Douglas Delzell, both of Columbus; three sisters, Virginia Scheid of Marshall, Judy White of Columbus and Linda Anders of Alturas, Calif.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Michael; and two sisters, Kathy and Sandy Hill.
