Senior Erika Espinoza set a school record with four goals Tuesday as the Marshall girls' soccer team got its first win of the season with a 5-1 non-conference victory over Stover.
Espinoza got the Lady Owls going with a short shot in the eighth minute, but that was all of the scoring for the first half. However, she connected again four minutes into the second half.
Twenty minutes later, Espinoza struck twice with a span of seconds, both assisted by senior Ariel Smith.
The Lady Bulldogs (1-10) broke the shutout with 10 minutes remaining in the match on a long boot by freshman Kendra King, but Marshall answered when senior Haley Witcher set up senior Allea Summers for her team-high fifth goal of the season.
The Lady Owls dominated the contest, with a 14-2 advantage in shots on goal -- and 22 shots overall, including four from junior Jenny Najera and three each by Smith and junior Jasmine Tapia.
Marshall (1-14) will hit the road Monday for an NCMC match at Kirksville.
