Nelda L. Branson, 85, of Springfield, died at 11:15 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2012, at Ash Grove Health Care Facility in Ash Grove.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2012, in the Chapel of First Baptist Church of Springfield with the Reverend Michael Overton officiating, under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time, Thursday in the chapel. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. in Missouri Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Children's Home in Mt. Vernon. Cards for the family may be sent to Lyle Branson in care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E. Seminole St., Springfield, MO 65804.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Springfield where she attended the Chapel Sunday School Class. Throughout the years, Nelda served in many capacities mentoring children and young adults of the church in their faith.

She is survived by her husband, Lyle D. Branson of Springfield; one son, Gary Branson and his wife, Sharon, of Ozawkie, Kan.; two daughters, Darla McDonough and her husband, Bob, of Jefferson City and Connie Condict of Ash Grove; Grandchildren, Alan Branson and his wife, Tracy, of Marshall, Chad Branson and his wife, Carrie, of Ozawkie, Kan., Laura Branson Mobley and her husband, John, of Herndon, Va. Erin McDonough Strong and her husband, Steve, of Columbia, Megan McDonough of Jefferson City, Cody Condict of Ash Grove, Jake Condict of Springfield and Kinsey Condict Rhudy and her husband, Ryan, of Springfield; fourteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Carol Procter Beck and her husband, Martin, of Jefferson City; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Clay Procter; her mother, Myrtle Dale Steenbergen Procter; one brother, Floyd Colbert Procter; and one daughter, Kathy Dale Branson.
