Opal I. Turner, 93, of Marshall, died Friday, April 20, 2012, at Mar-Saline Manor in Marshall.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Marshall Senior Center or charity of donor's choice. Born Feb. 11, 1919, in Iona, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Ernest Bird and Lucy Magdaline Colville Bird. On Oct. 17, 1953, in Crocker, she married Lawrence Richard Turner, who preceded her in death on May 1, 1993. She lived in Marshall most of her life where she was a homemaker.
Survivors include one nephew, Don Bird of Yakima, Wash.; six nieces, Lola Lobus of Sedalia, Phyllis Bywaters of Jacksonville, Fla., Gara Morton of Mentone, Calif., Gail Higddon of Owensboro, Ky., Terry Heilman and Robin Franklin, both of Marshall.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Gladys Wagle, Blanche Bird, Ruby Bird and Lois Moore; and two brothers, Paul Bird and Virgil Bird.
