Shirley Loretta Utterback, 71, of Sedalia, formerly of Marshall, died Thursday, April 19, 2012, at her home.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2012, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Born July 16, 1940, in Corning, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Ernest Herndon and Geraldine Knowlton Herndon. On Feb. 18, 1978, she married Franklin D. Utterback, who preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 2010. She had lived in Marshall, Clinton and Sedalia.
Survivors include four children, Gary Lowman of Belgrade, Mont., Penny Lowman of Springfield, Ore., Velvet Anderson and her husband, Frank, of Sedalia, and Sandra Walter and her husband, Jeteriah, of rural Marshall; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three stepsons, Steve, Clinton and Curtis Utterback; two stepdaughters, Janet Dick and Marcia Miller; one sister, Louise Simmons of Nampa, Ind.; one brother, Ronnie Herndon of the state of New York; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Christopher Sweeney; one brother, Scott Herndon; and one sister, Judy Brown.
