Charlene Hays Cummings, 81, of Marshall, died Thursday, April 19, 2012, at Sweet Springs Villa in Sweet Springs.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Mark Gooden officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to the Saline Animal League. Born March 24, 1931, in Flemington, she was the daughter of the late Johnie Marsh and Clara Taylor Marsh. She married Charles E. Hays who later divorced. In 1985 she married Jim Cummings who preceded her in death in 1996. She had lived in Norman, Ind., from 1979 to 1997 then returning to Missouri. She was a retired LPN working in numerous nursing homes and was a member of Marshall Family Worship Center.
Survivors include four children, Tim Hays and his wife, Melissa, of Higginsville, Julie Edwards and her husband, Stephen, of Edwardsville, Wash., David Hays of Williams, Ind., and Gary Hays of Sedalia; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters, Laura Ireland of Marshall and Dora Lee Shannon and her husband, Bob, of Marshall; two brothers, J.B. Marsh and his wife, Frances, of Marshall and Tom Marsh and his wife, Sharon, of rural Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Jan Hays Dillon.
