Sheriff's deputies continue to investigate the recent vandalism at United Methodist Church in Malta Bend, according to a Saline County Sheriff's Department report.
Damage to the church and its contents was discovered Thursday, April 12, according to the report.
A window to the kitchen at the back of the church was broken, apparently by someone throwing concrete chunks through it, deputies said.
A fire extinguisher was discharged throughout the sanctuary and pastor's office, and an oil candle was left burning.
In the basement, glass was shattered in a large picture, books were dumped from a table and a large box of fluorescent light bulbs were shattered, according to the report.
Church officials said they would obtain an estimate of the cost of the damage.
