Valerie K. Fain-Vanfossen, 52, of Marshall, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012, at her home.
A memorial service in her honor will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012, at McCredie United Methodist Church in Kingdom City with a luncheon immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to McCredie United Methodist Church. Expressions of sympathy may be extended to the family at www.heartlandcremation.com.
Born April 29,1959, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late William C. Bennett and step-mother, Judy Bennett, who survives, and Shirley A. (Bramlage) Wallis. On May 30, 2002, she was united in marriage to Raymond W. Vanfossen, who survives of the home. She moved to Marshall in June 1985 to finish raising her family and to be closer to relatives, after spending several years as a homemaker at various Naval bases on the East Coast with her first and second husbands. She worked at the Marshall Habilitation Center for 10 years as well as ConAgra Frozen Foods and the Center for Human Services.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Ryan Smith and his wife, Krystle, of Kingsland, Ga., Lisa Smith of Marshall, Kati Zollinhofer and her husband, Josh, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jason Fain and his wife, Tara, of Waverly; six grandchildren, Brea and Andrew Smith, Keegan Duncan, Kaliah Zollinhofer, Kylie and Lilly Fain; two sisters, Cathy Smith and her husband, Kevin, of Marthasville, and Jenny Spencer and her husband, Randy, of Millersburg; and one brother, Rick Wallis and his wife, Kelly, of St. Charles.
