Cattlemen award six scholarships for 2012

The Saline County Cattlemen have announced their annual $500 scholarship recipients for high school seniors in Saline County. The Cattlemen have been awarding scholarships to area students for over fifteen years.

This year's selections are:

Kirsten Kelly, daughter of Kelly and Elaine Kelly, a senior at Marshall High School, plans to attend the University of Missouri Science and Technology in Rolla, MO where she intends to major in Biochemistry.

Levi Smith, son of Mark and Lola Smith, a senior at Sweet Springs High School, plans to attend University of Missouri in Columbia, MO and intends to major in Biological Sciences.

Skylar Simpson, daughter of Karla and John Simpson, a senior at Marshall High School, plans to attend William Jewell College in Liberty, MO, and intends to have a double major of Accounting and Marketing.

Payton Ehrhardt, daughter of Sidney Ehrhardt, a senior at Marshall High School, plans to attend University of Missouri, Columbia, and intends to major in agricultural journalism.

Dawn Gorrell, daughter of Ann and Brent Gorrell, is a senior at Malta Bend High School, plans to attend University of Missouri, Columbia, and major in Agribusiness Management.

Jacqueline Anderson, daughter of Cheryl and Jack Anderson, is a senior at Slater High School, plans to attend Central Methodist College at Fayette and intends to go in the field of education or nursing.

The Cattlemen were pleased with the large response to their application process, and wish all of these students a successful higher education experience.
