Donald Eugene (Don) Clark, 76, of Waverly, died Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2012, at Waverly Baptist Church in Waverly with Rev. Mike Walker officiating. Visitation was held from 2 to 2:45 prior to the service at the church. Burial was held in Valhalla Cemetery in Waverly with military services provided by Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Born June 23, 1935, in Madison, he was the son of Leslie and Leona Fowler Clark. In 1982, in Miami, Okla., he married Wanda Good, who survives of the home. He attended high school in Wellsville, Kan., before moving to Ottawa, Kan., and then to Waverly. He served in the U.S. Army Airborne Division as a paratrooper and served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was a heavy equipment operator and retired from Kansas City Power and Light in Lawrence, Kan. He was a member of Waverly Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Gary Clark of Ottawa, Kan., Greg Clark of Pea Ridge, Ark., Donna Leonard of Lawrence, Kan., Jim Plaggemeyer II and Paula Shivers, both of Waverly; one sister, Dorothy Peterson of Paris; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Triplett; and one brother, Bobby Clark.
