Elizabeth L. Samson, 98, of rural Sweet Springs, died Saturday, March 10, 2012, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Sweet Springs, with Father Tom Alber officiating. A prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Sweet Springs with visitation following from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Born Aug. 20, 1913, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Jacoby and Elizabeth Dehn Jacoby. She was a 1932 graduate of Mercy Academy in Marshall. On April 30, 1946, she married Bernard J. (Ben) Samson who preceded her in death on May 12, 2003. She had lived in rural Sweet Springs since 1955, moving from Marshall. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and was president of the Weber Extension Club for many years.
Survivors include one daughter, Marian Winfrey of Gladstone; one son, William (Bill) Samson of Sweet Springs; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Bernard Lawrence (Larry) Samson; one grandson; two brothers, Henry and Lawrence Jacoby; and one sister, Mary Hahn.
