John Stephen "Steve" Inskeep, 69, of Higginsville, died Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at his home.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March, 9, 2012, at First Baptist Church, 1907 Peach St., in Higginsville, with Dr. Greg Fine officiating. Inurnment will be held at 3 p.m. in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2012, at Hoefer Funeral home, 1600 Main St., in Higginsville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church Choir or American Parkinson Disease Association, St. Louis Chapter. Born Jan. 27, 1943, in Boonville, he was the son of the late James Orton Inskeep and Nona Mae (Dix) Inskeep. On Nov. 30, 1970, he married Helen Lucille Brown, who preceded him in death on Jan. 16, 1999. He graduated from Nelson High School in Nelson and went on to receive an associate's degree at Wentworth Military College in Lexington. He lived most of his life in Higginsville before retiring. He was self-employed doing lawn maintenance and small engine repair. He also sold Watkins products.

He is survived by one son, Aaron Inskeep and his wife, Julie, of Overland Park, Kan.; one daughter, Sally Caldoza and her husband, Kris, of Racine, Wis.; seven brothers, James Inskeep and his wife, Carol, of Polo, David Inskeep and his wife, Jeanne, of Hutchinson, Kan., Tony Inskeep and his wife, DeAnn, of Mission, Kan., Wade Inskeep and his wife, Gail, of Woodstock, Ga., Bill Inskeep and his wife, Debbie, of Pilot Grove, Paul Inskeep and his wife, Debbie, of Robstown, Texas and Matthew Inskeep of Nelson; two sisters, Sara Brubaker and her husband, Cleason, of Hutchinson, Kan. and Sue Hickam and her husband, Bill, of New Franklin; one granddaugher, Eliana Joy Caldoza; 53 nieces and nephews; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Joyce Ann (Inskeep) Williams.
