RR,

As you know, I stopped supporting the healthcare law drawn up entirely by conservatives in the Democrat Party the moment they dropped the single-payer option.

At that point the bill lost all its significance.

I have opposed it ever since and I particularly don't like the unfunded mandate portion of that law. I believe that portion to be unconstitutional.

As I said when that weak health care bill was passed by Congress, only socialized health care can solve America's health care access problems.

After all, we can look at every other Western Industrialized nation in the World and see that socialized medicine actually works -- unlike America's Root-hog-or-die approach which has been a total failure and has resulted in needless deaths and financial ruin.

Its time to scrap the plan that was draw-up by the conservatives and do the right thing for American health care access -- socialize it!

-- Posted by news across on Sat, Mar 31, 2012, at 1:20 PM

Wow 90%!!!! I guess since we have to buy health care the government could tell us that we all have to tithe 10% to a church. Would that be ok? What else would the government have us buy and call it a tax?

-- Posted by rr3yv0 on Sat, Mar 31, 2012, at 7:18 AM

90% of the Church's gross revenues would be a good start.

Oh and what does Raw Story tell you 'fair share' is. Always quoted but never defined.

Oh but news you continually listen to the wrong people. You believe exactly what they want you to believe just like a puppet on a string. Go ahead read Raw Story so you know what to think.

No way does Obama govern from the left.

At best he is center-right.

As to the Senate, nothing good comes out of there thanks to the record number of filibusters by the Party-of-NO!

As for the Republican Congress which holds our nation hostage whenever sane people threaten to stop their anti-American, insano-bills, you can kiss them good-bye because most of them won't be coming back to the Congress in January.

Yeh but Nana being a disciplined but tolerant, true American is much better then those other names. But we are being led by 'whining rotters' and 'liberal airheads' as we speak. Especially the president and the senate. How is that workin' out for you?

Gal if your point was that I won't compromise with NAZIS and others who adhere to fascism, then you are 100% correct.

Nor do I collaborate with the NAZIS. Nor do I sympathize with the NAZIS or with any other fascist ideology, and neither do I share any of their 14 defining characteristics of fascist political ideology.

I believe in a democratic republic form of government -- the kind of Democratic Republic established by our Founding Fathers in the form reflected by our Constitution. I believe in freedom and the liberty of human rights.

So yeah, I would never compromise away my freedom and liberty and substitute fascism for freedom. Nor would I trade that freedom for security.

I think that is self-evident.

So besides pointing out that freedom lovers refuse to compromise with NAZIS and other fascists, what is the significance of your comment?

Are you suggesting that we should compromise with NAZIS and other fascists?

And if that is your point, what compromise with the fascists are you suggesting? What specific compromise did you have in mind?

As to the test, 1.67 was my score.

Spike Lee retweet with wrong Zimmerman address sparks outrage and fear

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/cutline/spik...

-- Posted by rr3yv0 on Thu, Mar 29, 2012, at 6:03 AM

Also RR, Zimmerman is a target for just about every crazy out there right now. That is why he is in hiding.

He has 4 possible futures as I see it.

1.) He is never charged with the crime. I doubt he will still be breathing 2 weeks later after the decision not to prosecute is anno6nced -- and that is a most conservative figure.

2.) He goes to trial and is acquitted...and again, I bet he won't be breathing 2 weeks later.

3.) He is found guilty, sentenced to prison, processed, and released to general population -- in this case, I doubt he survives 1 day.

4.) He is found guilty and placed in a voluntary isolation cell where he serves his sentence in solitary confinement.

-- Posted by news across on Wed, Mar 28, 2012, at 11:19 PM

That's true.

Nanadot:

Thanks for your research on the political hoodies. Fascinating price contrasts. Romney's at $50.00. Ron Paul's cost $28.00.

I wear a deep rose pink hoodie on Thursdays to my local market for Senior Discount Day. Even though the outside temperature might be 80 degrees, this little old lady of 78 finds shopping for groceries a chilling experience especially near the produce when the spray comes on as I'm reaching for veggies. Since my hair is silver and my skin is white, no one is apt to find me suspicious.

Sadly, the NRA's push for Stand your Ground laws has brought us back to the vigilante era.

Smart Dog,

Thanks for sharing the Krugman op-ed piece.

When Paul Krugman speaks, I listen to what he has to say. His porch-light is definitely on...sort-to-speak.

I am not surprised to learn that our laws are being written by a handful of the richest people in America. After all, America ceased to be a democratic republic back in 2000 when the Republicans on the Supreme Court -- in direct violation of their own precedent -- overruled the High Court of Florida and actually stopped a state election...and folks just let it go.

I think what has happened is that America ignored Ben Franklin's warning to future generations and opted to trade a little bit of its liberty and freedom for a little bit of security. As Franklin predicted, we now have neither.

It appears that the 'corporatization' of American government is fully underway and gaining steam.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/26/opinio...

After we turn our schools and prisons over to for-profit corporations, I reckon it won't be long before we turn over the police also.

Won't that be fun, arrests for profit.

Wasn't that kind of the theme of Orwell's "1984?"

-- Posted by Smart Dog on Tue, Mar 27, 2012, at 8:46 AM

RR,

Its good to see you have finally seen a glimpse of what that Republican Congress is doing to us.

Thank goodness its an election year and we now have the opportunity to kick that Republican Congress to the curb.

-- Posted by news across on Mon, Mar 26, 2012, at 4:04 PM

Additionally,rr3, you do realize that our Republican controlled federal government managed to increase the national debt by 77% from 2000 to 2008, right?

2000 - $5,628,700,000.

2008 - $9,986,800,000.

Two unfunded wars, tax cuts for the wealthy, and Grover Nordquists "no tax increases or I'm taking away your job" will do that to a country.

I agree with your sentiment that spending is out of control, but what makes you so sure the conservatives are the ones who will fix the problem? Historical data does not support the claim that they have a solution, or are willing to do the tough things to correct the problem.

I find it hard to believe that another war (with Iran), more tax cuts, and continued focus on social issues, which is all I hear from the right during their current campaigns, will fix our current situation.

Perhaps if we pray more? Is that the plan? In God We Trust?

-- Posted by Smart Dog on Mon, Mar 26, 2012, at 1:05 PM

rr3,

You do realize that all the hype Wiedemer is creating is in order to sell his book, right?

Marketing success in the 21st century is to stir up plenty of internet buzz with video clips which sound dramatic but mostly lack facts and solutions.

Then claim to have the solution to the supposed problem "and it can be yours for only $xx.xx."

Looks to me like another ploy to make cash off of todays political unrest and economic woes.

Trouble is I haven't had a candidate to vote for in the last 20 years. Well, except for Al Gore, and people make fun of you if you admit you voted for him.

DEMOCRATIC DIALOG

Father, must I go to work?

No, my lucky son

We're living now on Easy Street

On dough from Washington

We left it up to Uncle Sam

So don't get exercised

Nobody has to give a ****-

We've all been subsidized.

But if Sam treats us all so well

And feeds us milk and honey,

Please, Daddy, tell me what the hell

He's going to use for money.

Don't worry, bub, there's not a hitch

In this here noble plan-

He simply soaks the filthy rich

And helps the common man.

But, father, won't there come a time

When they run out of cash

And we have left them not a dime

When things will go to smash?

My faith in you is shrinking, son,

you Nosy little brat;

You do too much thinking, son,

To be a Democrat.

Since Federal law prohibits the use of any tax dollars on abortion for the purpose of birth control, it means that none of your taxes payed for even 1 abortion. Your money is being spent for useful things...like,well, killing innocent Afghani civilian, God fearing, non-combatant women and children in Afghanistan. RR,

Your concerns regarding abortion are something we share in many ways.

As a means of birth control, abortion is greatly disturbing to probably most human beings.

After all, we are specifically designed by natural selection to want to further and enhance the survival of our species, and one of the ways nature has instilled that in us is that we feel naturally inclined to protect babies and children.

We also have an instinctive desire to provide care and assistance to the pregnant mother-to-be which is also a natural instinct that is designed to ensure the continuation of the species.

So for most Homo Sapien, Sapiens -- us -- the idea of intentionally ending a pregnancy by the process of abortion as a means of birth control goes against our natural instincts.

However, unlike most animals, we have a highly developed brain and, thus, a highly developed ability to utilize reason. As a result, we are able to rise above the "feelings" generated by our instinct, ask the question of who has the final say regarding the decision to abort the pregnancy, and the ability to answer the question with reason.

As a society, we have used reason and come up with the only reasonable answer.

In the end, that decision can only be made by the mother. After all she bares all the dangers from that pregnancy and she is the one who is physically, directly affected by that pregnancy.

What is more, the rational for deciding who can make that decision is so strong that the decision for terminating a pregnancy under our secular laws is regarded as the natural human right of the mother and her alone -- not you, not the state, and sure as heck not me.

That is how we as a society settled the issue -- and that issue has been decided. There is no turning back case law history -- short of a new Constitutional amendment for which there is not nearly enough public support to even get it past the gate, sort-to-speak.

Which brings me to the most important point -- conservatives foolishly wasting tax-payers hard earned dollars passing laws that violate our Constitutional human rights and attempt to re-litigate issues already well decided by our Courts as has been done in Texas, for example.

The conservative attempts to "acornize" Planned Parenthood, most recently in Texas, are not working at all. In fact, such attempts have ended in complete failure and have only served to ensure an even more determined effort by the majority to remove conservatives from public office at every level.

Thank goodness its a Presidential election year -- an occurrence that brings the majority out to vote in droves.

It seems lately pregnancy, abortion and contraceptives are a disease instead a personal decision made by responsible adults.

rr3 you said "Why should we pay for any of it? I didn't make the decision for them to get pregnant or get the abortion or have sex.

No you did not make the decision for them to get pregnant, instead some crazed rapist attacked, and impregnated a twelve year old girl, or perhaps it was her father, or grandfather.

Why should you pay for an abortion? Not at all, if you do not mind being the rapist's accomplice after the fact, and feel no anguish at all as to how that child will suffer grieviously at carrying to term, she just a child herself who like you, didn't make the decision to get pregnant.

I can not fathom how Santorum psychopaths can get all protective, at any cost to anyone else, over a sperm and an egg at the moment of conception, yet turn their backs on a little child, impregnated against her will, even if she were to die due to the pregnancy. It is a ghastly position to take, that horrifies most who countenance it. Surely you are not with that criminally deranged crowd?

The only reason Perry is mad because of the underhanded move by the Democrats against a Republican led state. Pure liberal politics at work so you should be cheering them on. It's not about the poor women and when you figure out they don't care about the women it is only the money you might see the light. It seems lately pregnancy, abortion and contraceptives are a disease instead a personal decision made by responsible adults. Why should we pay for any of it? I didn't make the decision for them to get pregnant or get the abortion or have sex.

An interesting review of the rise of the Republican hate machine. American history has been far too kind to the only President to resign in shame, the sociopathic Richard Nixon.

His fitting legacy is that he began the actions that have taken the Republican Party to the point that they are marginal, and thought of as the party of hate by a majority of Americans. Their ranks continue to diminish, as does their stature. Santorum, and Gingrich in particular believe that they thrive on hate. They tout Reagan, but ape Nixon.

Read this, it all falls into place, including the absolute folly of Obama's disappointing attempt to conciliate, and appease the Republican Party. http://consortiumnews.com/2012/03/08/how...

ND,

That was a great article. Education is an important way of keeping First American culture alive.

The First Australians are also taking similar steps to educate folks in First Australian history and culture, as well as teaching them their legal rights as an indigenous minority under English Common Law and the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

I know you have a positive interest in indigenous culture. Music is, and always has been, an important part of that culture. There are quite a number of very talented, professional First American musicians who are virtually ignored by the mainstream music industry.

I thought that particular piece was one of the best I have ever heard and I am pleased that you also enjoyed it. I will be posting more First American, as well as First Australian, music in this forum from time to time. I hope you and everyone will enjoy them.

Here is another First American artist, quite famous in The Native American community who I personally think may be one of the best American singer-song writers of our time.

Enjoy:

Yeah I saw that mate, I was shocked.

Mate, the right wing in both parties, all the contenders for the Office of Dictator -- including the current dictator, and the masses of really, really dumb Americans seem bound and determined to initiate the final collapse of American democracy.

I feel my decision to escape from behind the American Iron Curtain and find refuge in a free, democratic nation, far away from the harrowing NAZI madness that is the USA, was the right choice for me.

Frankly mate, it became clear to me that Dubba Bush, hand-puppet of the 1% and the neocons -- now called the tea party -- had sealed the deal. Now we have the next dictator, Obama, ordering the executions of American citizens.

Mate, I often wonder how much longer it will be before we see the intelligencia. gays, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans, Black Americans, and the progressive voices and leaders being imprisoned -- or shipped off to concentration camps. I would not be a bit surprised to see such occur in America over the next 10 years.

Thus my advice to Kucinch and other progressives is the same advice I would have given to NAZI Germany's intelligencia, progressives, and minorities -- go! Get out of there as fast as you can. Move to one of the free countries before the American conservatives begin their vicious crackdown on what may be your last freedom -- the right to emigrate to a free country.

-- Posted by news across on Tue, Mar 6, 2012, at 4:00 AM

Psychopathy is untreatable, probably genetic and is characterized by a total lack of empathy. Sociopaths have similar characteristics but are not as organized as the psychopath which is why many criminals in jail are sociopaths, not psychopaths. The most popular occupations for psychopaths are the military, politics, any position of authority and occupations where there are opportunities for risk taking such as business. They do not think like most of us and the conservative estimate of 1 in 100 in the USA means that you have probably run into one in your life. Psychopaths hate to be exposed as such, because this stops them from manipulating others, so the best thing you can do is to be aware of them and avoid them. The expert in the field is Robert Hare who devised the Psychopath Checklist.

http://www.hare.org/welcome/

Think about all those people you read about and how they have no empathy, they could be psychopaths. Here is an interesting article about them

http://www.psychologytoday.com/articles/...

The more you know about them, the more you understand how a lot of people in power function. Hope this helps and news is not one, neither am I. The latest thing I am researching is Narcissism, just as fascinating but nowhere near as dangerous.

ROTFLMAO News!

-- Posted by Oklahoma Reader on Mon, Mar 5, 2012, at 11:26 AM

ND,

AW has read a great deal on the subject. I have asked her to comment on the subject here in this forum.

Interestingly enough, when she first started studying various anti-social behaviors, I was her test subject. Every time we would go over to our local bowling club for the champagne breakfast she would tell me what she had been reading about psychopaths in our society. Then she would test me with the most recent psychopath test she had read about.

Apparently, these tests and the evaluation cannot be a self-testing thing, consequently, she did all the testing and evaluation based upon on her vast knowledge of me. She says I am OK...but still, I think she is keeping her eye on me.

So I filled out one of tests on her one morning, and of course I evaluated her based upon the same criteria. She did not do well. She claims I had unfairly skewed the results. Anyway, I am keeping a good eye on her.

(lol)

SD,

Interestingly enough, the average Joe who claims to be middle-of-the road and independent -- but is in fact hard-core, right-wing voter -- will often babble off the conservative talking-point-of-the-day then quickly disappear when asked to provide us with some legitimate reason to accept their position.

We have some excellent examples of that right there in Marshall.

Many Marshall conservatives will make untenable statements then they run and hide when invited to present their supporting evidence for analysis.

This is likely due to the fact that they have no supporting evidence capable of lending credence to the failed conservative policies of the politician or party, or both, that they support.

Facts, empirical evidence, and reason are a conservative's worst enemies.

I guess when a voter's sum total of knowledge is rooted in empty, conservative propaganda then it is not surprising to see a Congressional majority regurgitating the same failed, approach that caused most of the problems our Nation faces today.

-- Posted by news across on Fri, Mar 2, 2012, at 4:24 PM

SD,

Grayson clearly has a good grasp of the situation, and that was an interesting op-ed piece.

Those myths seem obvious to me, however apparently the average Joe in America cannot understand they are merely myths because they keep electing these Republicans over and over again...and expecting different results.

Sadly, those results include collapsing the economy, permanent war, and a crumbling empire.

Well, I am growing happier and more hopeful by the day.

It appears that the neo-cons are self-destructing at an alarming rate.

Cebull's argument that his joke is not racist is laughable, but I have to agree. I didn't find it offenesive based on race. I found it to be an incredibly immature thing to do, making jokes that basically infer that the President of the United States mother participates in beastiality. Especially disgusting that this comes from someone who probably claims to be a good Christian.

And now Limbaugh calls women who wish to take contraception "sluts."

As the conservatives apparently have nothing of value to contribute to modern society, I reckon they will now operate with a campaign of tasteless jokes and personal slurs. They now remind me of a bunch of smart-a$$ed punk adolescents. Well.......Limbaugh has been that for a couple of decades now......but the rest of the neo-cons seem to think they need to join up with him.

I used to think that conservatives at least stood for integrity and dignity (back in the 80's anyway). Now, they just appear to be really good at striking a chord with middle aged racist losers who blame poor folks and women for their lack of success.

I will celebrate the day when voters wake up and realize what supporting todays GOP does for us as a society and nation, which is basically almost nothing.

Now, how do we get a reporter to ask Santorum if he thinks Limbaugh or Cebull owe anyone an apology? I'd love to hear him try and defend either one of those jokers.

I encourage all neo-con supporters to keep stirring each other up and telling each other how right you are about all this. The more the conservatives speak their minds, the more their true beliefs are revealed.

One thing is confusing though RR.

How well could you adapt your religious views to a Santorum Administration that takes its orders from the Pope?

Are you willing to quietly standby while your kids or grandkids are required to make homage to the Pope and Catholic religious creed as they recite Catholic prayers every school morning?

Reich has made it abundantly clear that his orders come from Rome. He recently stated that in an interview.

Can you adjust to a United States that is being controlled by the Pope and which mandates you observe Catholic rituals publicly, support the Catholic Church and its clergy with your tax dollars, and publicly acknowledge Catholic dogma as the official policy of the US?

News, and rr3 I have not been in favor of a flat tax, and have favored a progressive tax. However I prefer the flat tax that News has proposed to the bastardized progressive tax that we have now.

Maybe this is another area that an accord can be reached across the political spectrum.

One problem though is the extremely low wage earners. There must be some safety net of some sort for workers who work, say fifty hours a week, and still don't make enough to feed, cloth, house, and provide medical care to their families. That will be a sticking point.

If an exception is made for that, a concession on the other end will be demanded under the guise of a tax break to create hiring incentives, and we will regress from there. It is a sticky wicket.

-- Posted by Oklahoma Reader on Mon, Feb 27, 2012, at 1:05 AM

Rr3 you work every chance you get on the righties, and I'll work on the lefties every chance I get. Let's both put the squeeze on the middle. I think election reform may get us going in the right direction. Something must, and as such reform is largely absent ideology, it has a greater chance of being a reality. We have to try.

If nothing else it is an indicator that folks have a greater faith in the American voter than big money.

-- Posted by Oklahoma Reader on Mon, Feb 27, 2012, at 12:49 AM

rr,

Actually I absolutely support the flat-tax, as long as there are 0 (zero) deductions, no itemization, and the same approach and form are used by individuals and corporations alike.

Here is the flat-tax formula I wouid support:

flat-tax % x gross sales/gross income = tax amount

For example, let's say you made $100,000.00 total income in 2011, and the flat-tax is 15%.

Under this flat-tax, your tax libility would be:

.15 x $100.000.00 = $15,000.00

Similarly, let's say American Oil Company, Inc, has total gross sales revenue for 2011 equal to $100,000,000,000.00 {100 billion dollars), under the flat-tax in our scenario, AOC's tax liability would be:

.15 x $100,000,000,000.00 = $15,000,000,000.00 ($15 billion dollars)

1 flat-rate for everyone, 1 simple tax-formula for everyone, everybody -- individuals and corporations, alike -- treated exactly the same.

What could be simpler, easier, and more fair?

-- Posted by news across on Mon, Feb 27, 2012, at 12:14 AM

I'm surprised news I thought you liked the progressive tax. Since you support OWC and all that. What do you think of the UAW financing their own OWC?

-- Posted by rr3yv0 on Sun, Feb 26, 2012, at 10:55 PM

rr,

i am with you on that flat tax but there must be no tax exemptions, no itemizations, no deductions, and everyone -- individual or corp -- pays the flat-tax rate on gross income and gross revenues -- zero deductions for individuals and no deductions for corps. everyone pays flat rate on the total amount of money they took in during that calendar year. its fair, its simple, and it would work.

guess who won't want that?

I think we should take all the money of the rich put more people on food stamps, have more people that pay zero taxes. We should put more money into green energy to go bankrupt, force the auto makers to make cars that nobody wants or can afford, more money should go to Fannie and Freddie. Instead of always raising our debt ceiling lets just take the lid off and make it unlimited. Its not that the liberal policies don't work they just haven't spent enough money on them. Do away with all campaign money. We the people finance your campaign so that all candidates will be equal. No donations and no personal money allowed.

Only pay congress when they are working, when in recess you go home and work your regular job or whatever you do. End their pensions to end career politicians. No benefits except when in office. When you get voted out you do not become a burden on the taxpayer.

Have some sort of flat or fair tax system and this is the part you won't like. If you don't pay taxes you don't vote. One vote for every dollar you pay in taxes so that the people that are providing the financing have a say in how it is spent.

That is just the beginning.

Jo

I wonder if there will ever be democracy in the United States?

Its not so hard to understand why so many folks in this World might hate us when you consider we are holding many of their citizens in prison, like Gitmo and our secret prisons in Eastern Europe and the Middle East, hold them with no trial, no access to a lawyer, torture them, kill them, ect.

For some reason they don't care for America doing that to them.

Also, many of them are not too keen on America's policy of attacking, invading, and occupying their countries, and many of them don't care much for our committing genocide in their countries. Heck, according to the UN and most accredited, neutral observers, we killed over 1 million innocent Iraqi non-combatant civilians - 55% of whom were women and Children.

I think many countries would probably like to tell America to just keep its money -- and keep its troops -- out of their countries.

"voting...being able to vote is the definition of freedom."

He was having trouble because the US was busy murdering journalists in Iraq at the time and I was asking him how the crushing of free speech = freedom.

He said that freedom only referred to having the right to cast a vote.

That is the mindset we have with these Christian Nationalists who orchestrated, planned, and launched all of our illegal and immoral foreign wars against brown-skinned people in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Its a frightening situation.

I suppose in some twisted way we have given them "freedom" if freedom is so loosely defined to include release from the hell that we created.

When you clear away all the propaganda, one can see that we have a long-standing, patriotic duty to burn Korans. You do remember the attack on our innocent Nation by the Taliban on 9/11, right?

I hope this will help you see our Christian/American duty in Afghanistan and why our troops are there spreading the Good Word and democracy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYxEIyNA_...

-- Posted by news across on Thu, Feb 23, 2012, at 1:51 AM

Oklahoma Reader

My friend, you and I have not disagreed on anything since the "Stouffer" incident in another forum and regarding a past article in the MDN on that topic.

But now it appears that again we are at odds on another matter.

The justified burning of the Koran.

Yes I said justified.

As we all know there is only one true God and its God/Jesus/Ghost.

Let's keep our facts straight.

Allah, despite being the God of Abraham, the same God of the Christians, is not the true God because he is Allah and not God.

That means anything this Allah guy says is blasphemy.

Its that simple.

Our troops have a Christian duty to burn Korans in the name of Jesus and his Dad and his Ghost.

As you know we have an all Christian Army now and those boys receive regular religious training from the Chaplin. In addition, the Army is very clear when it issues orders and our boys follow their orders to the letter.

What are you? some kinda Communist?

Oh but I digress.

Our fighting men and women need our support no matter if they are rescuing Afghanistan from the Taliban by destroying their infrastructure, social customs, traditions, and killing them, or ridding Afghanistan of foreign, pagan books that caused the problems they have in the first place.

We as Americans have a duty to help the rest of the World learn about and faithfully practice evangelical Christianity. After all, we are a Republic.

Finally, may I remind you that it was the Afghan People who asked us to assist them in ridding their country of Islamic, Koran-carrying, Islamists who are threatening to take over the World and spread their evil religion of violence.

I recently ran across the following lecture on a similar subject on you tube. Perhaps it will make our position, as Americans, clearer to you.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VHKpGJX2...

I hope after viewing that video you will get with the program and come on in for the big win. We all have to keep our heads until this peace craze blows over.

OKR, what I am waiting for are the open calls for a dictatorship from the Republican Cult.

Its happening in Japan right now and voters there are actually supporting the notion.

That is what happened in NAZI Germany as well. The NAZI Party, under Hitler's leadership, was widely and openly condemning democracy and demanding a strong-man dictatorship in Germany. Apparently that resonated with the German voters too.

I doubt it will be long before we hear such calls from the right-wing in America soon as well.

Interestingly enough, the fall of the American Republic is mirroring that of the Roman Republic in so many ways. I hear a lot of folks say that the American empire will fall like the Roman empire did but I think that is not the case. I don't think the American empire will collapse but I do think her democracy is just about finished. It is the collapse of the Republic that concerns me most.

I would not be, and am not, intimidated by that pathetic excuse for a conservative psuedo-intellectual, I am fully prepared for the debate right now, and I will be the one doing the the interrogating if he tries any of that nonsense with me. Hey RR,

guess what I am drinking right now?

If you guessed Tooheys' old in the Bottle then you are correct sir!

I haven't drank koolaid in years.

I think I liked it when I was a child. But I grew up...well sorta.

Anyway, this Tooheys' is a heck of a lot better than koolaid. Its too bad they don't sell it there. You might like it. It has a bit of a kick, but its clean and pure.

Tooheys' is a black-beer, also called a "bitter-beer." Its made to ancient Irish standards as is Guinness -- another great beer also much better than koolaid.

OK, well I hope that clears things up for you.

RR

As one who lives the life of a permanent tourist in Sydney, Australia, I have to tell ya, vacations are fun.

Who does not love frolicking in the sunlight on warm, tranquil, clean beaches overlooking the crystal clear-blue water of the South Pacific Ocean with nothing better to do than hang out, drink real beer (not that dishwater the folks back home drink), check out the lovely women enjoying the beach and relaxing as those beautiful Australian ladies are walking around in those lovely string bikinis?

Oh wait, that's my life/vacation lol, not First Lady Obama's vacation.

Well all I can say is I hope she is having as good a time as I am.

It is an absolute! We need term limits on all these fools.when we the American People can put People like this in office, there has to be a better method of getting them out after the Election if we make a mistake! And that's going to happen. To get things done, we need a popular Majority Vote on every Vote! Get rid of the Electoral College! Popular Vote for President. When the districts are drown up an independent group (sworn in) every time it needs done. We don't need as many Representatives as we have and they know it!Cutting inside the Government it self, We vote on their wages, not them! Wages benefits, their Hospital Care! "Anwar al-Awlaki's family speaks out against his son's death in airstrike"

Be sure and watch the Government spokesman admit that (1) they had no evidence tying these Americans to any crime and (2) there was no warrant issued for their arrests -- they were not wanted by law enforcement in anyway -- nor had either been indited by a Grand Jury. Both were born in America and are just as American as you and me and were entitled under our laws and our Constitution to the same exact rights to due process as you and me. Our Constitution guarantees us a right to a trial and to due process. Neither Al-Awlaki nor his son ever got their day in court. All their rights were shoved aside by Obama and he ordered their exectutions. Those are facts. Watch the video below -- see and hear for yourself mate.

I ran across this article about Republican proposed cuts to veteran's benefits.

Its about a year old but it illustrates a good point.

If the fellas down at the VA want to know who is cutting them off, you may want to direct them to this article.

"Bachmann plan would cut veterans benefits"

By $400 billion dollars.

http://www.airforcetimes.com/news/2011/0...

Why on Earth would any veteran who actually uses veteran's benefits vote Republican knowing what the Republicans do to the VA?

You have me all wrong mate.

I am not supporting Obama's re-election bid.

I also do not support any Republican Nominees.

I think both Parties are fascist parties and I think Obama murdered 2 our citizens who were living abroad.

I could never support someone who is a murderer and I cannot support any candidate who does not support the rule of law and democracy. So far, none of either of the fasicist parties (Republicans and Democrats) is offering any candidate who supports democracy and liberty.

I will most likely be supporting either the Democratic Socialist candidate or the Green Party candidate.

I hope that clears this matter up.

Bill Stouffer is a good and honorable man. Sure he is a Republican and sure he and I may not agree on a lot of things, but I know first hand what a great guy Bill Stouffer is and how dedicated he is to helping people. When it comes down to honor and good character, Bill Stouffer is tops!

-- Posted by Eric Crump on Sat, Feb 18, 2012, at 12:59 PM

Unfortunately Wickedwitch all the Republican candidates are corporate shills, just like Obama. I agree that Obama is not a good President. It is just as obvious that the only choice the Republican candidates offer us is more of the same politics that burdened Obama from day one with the greatest fiscal mess in U. S. history. It would be insane to elect anyone who has nothing to offer, but the same failed policies.

We need fresh ideas from both parties, no we must demand fresh ideas from both parties. Here is the kicker; there is no impetus for them to listen to our demands.

The fuel for presidential campaigns is money, the source of the fuel is corporations. Better said corporate money has become the life blood of campaigning. The most important political movement today is the nascent drive for a constitutional amendment to commit us to taxpayer funded campaign finance. If we don't pay, we don't play.

-- Posted by Oklahoma Reader on Sat, Feb 18, 2012, at 12:52 PM

I am disappointed that Obama hasn't indicted Bush and Cheney for war crimes, but the problems WW speaks of started long before he took office. Consider for a moment the problems the man was handed.

He is still better than any of the clowns the GOP has offered up. It's like they aren't even trying. After Obama I sincerely hope to see Elizabeth Warren throw her hat into the ring.

-- Posted by What the f...... on Sat, Feb 18, 2012, at 11:56 AM

-- Posted by Jo on Sat, Feb 18, 2012, at 10:14 AM

And by the way, News Across and others, wanting to defeat Obama has absolutely nothing to do with him being the first Black president. I am fed up with that kind of "labeling" by liberals. He is leading our country down the wrong path--plain and simple. His followers are the ones who have made it about race and class warfare. Who ever heard so much political talk about the 1% or "the poor"? It used to be about all Americans--now we label label label and divide! We are more divided now than ever and I blame it on liberal rhetoric. We are in this together and we had better get someone to lead us and pull us together as a country. Someone who can say to us what JFK so famously did--Ask not what your country can do for you, but what YOU can do for your country. You see, I love America and I want it to be around for my kids and grandkids.

In this country, we can all make it! Nobody has to remain "the poor" for life.

And, we need to stick to the constitution. Remember separation of church and state? It's in there, too.

-- Posted by WickedWitch on Sat, Feb 18, 2012, at 9:20 AM

Most people don't want to hear this, but we must defeat Obama in the next election. Like others, I think he seems like a decent guy, good family man, probably means well . . . . But he is not a good president. Did anyone hear Treasury Secretary Timothy Geitner this week? He admitted that the Obama administration has NO PLAN to reduce our trillions deficit. NO PLAN. They don't like any republican plan, but they have NO PLAN -- and this is after 3+ years in office. What does this mean for our country? It means we are losing our clout in the world. We are no longer the "gold standard", the country that others turn to. Does that matter? You bet it does! what if China, from whom we are borrowing, decides that their money would be better invested in their own country? We are screwed! Do you honestly think any country--China, Russia, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Libya, Egypt--really cares about us? Forget it. We need our strength in the world to survive. And with this debt, we are rapidly losing our strength and clout.

Here's the problem, as I see it. The Republican candidates are weak and we think we don't have a choice. But wake up, America, anybody is better than Obama.

Take the payroll tax cut--extended again this week. Pundits say it will put $40 back into the average monthly paycheck. Sure, I like getting some extra in my check, but do you know what this is doing? STEALING SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS FROM THE ELDERLY. Do you see this sleight of hand? Obama rewards us now (we love immediate gratification) with the payroll "tax cut" and no attempt to reduce the budget deficit, and we think he's great. Great enough to get him reelected. Then down the road, we pay and PAY BIG.

Let's show 'em how wrong they are mate!

News , I think a lot of the People feel it's futil to Vote! I know i've felt that! Thanks again!

-- Posted by Jo on Fri, Feb 17, 2012, at 9:50 PM

Jo if a person registers to vote in Australia then at that point they are obligated to vote.

If a person does not want to vote all they have to do is not register to vote.

However, Aussies DO vote.

Voting here is seen as a public obligation and no Democracy can work unless the People vote. Here most folks regard voting as a patriotic duty as important as national defense and those who don't register to vote are regarded as useless deadbeats who don't care enough about their county to vote.

But if an Australian citizen does not wish to vote then he or she simply does not register to vote and then there is no fine.

Also voting here is all done by paper ballot and filled in by the voter. We don't allow electronic ballets nor do we have Diebold voting machines here.

Jo we also have all elections on Saturday when most folks are home for the weekend to make it easy for folks to get out and vote.

Here people line up and will wait for hours to vote. Its actually quite interesting. They don't seem to mind the long lines, and most that I have talked to tell me they feel lucky to be able to participate in democracy.

Its vastly different than anything I have seen in the USA in that regard.

In fact, a lot of Australians ask me why it is that Americans often times don't get out and vote. They are actually quite shocked by that kind of behavior since most Australians would rather fight than give up their right to vote. I jut tell them that Americans don't have any serious interest in Democracy or they would have bounced all those fascists in Congress out a long time ago.

-- Posted by news across on Fri, Feb 17, 2012, at 7:18 PM

I wanted to ask you ,NEWs I understand that Australian Citizens has to Vote or they could be subject to a fine,is this true? If it is ,its a good idea! Do they have a 94% turnout? Here all they want to do is make Voting harder for everyone ! They have manipulated this system to their advantage,(all Politicians)! We have to have some term limits on these people! Thanks News!

-- Posted by Jo on Fri, Feb 17, 2012, at 4:28 PM

A lot of folks believe anything if they hear it enough. A lot of those fellows down there probably get most their news from Fox News and talk radio. So even though 90% of what they "hear" is bunk, they believe it because they have heard it all so many times.

You are correct about the Republicans and the VA. The Republicans have been cutting the VA budget as often as they can for years now. I am a vet too Jo, and I remember the deal I signed on for included 100% VA medical care for life. Now its income based. I guess I am lucky I live in Australia now where we have socialized medicine and everyone is covered 100% for all their medical needs.

My experience is that the Republicans have made their point to a lot of Vets that they are genuine! This is astounding to me! ND,

That was great!!

I would not be surprised to see the Republican Rarty split into two distinct and separate parties after they lose the next election.

Clearly, the traditional Republicans are speaking out more and more on the issue of the Tea Party crazies driving and controlling the policies and positions of the Republican Party.

The losses they are poised to suffer in this election -- a Presidential election and the kind of election where the Democrats and middle-of-the-roaders really get out and vote in droves -- will devastate conservatives.

In fact if I could give a title to this election I would call it, "The Crazies' Last Stand, and like Custer, the crazies will find themselves surrounded and out-gunned, figuratively speaking.

The day after the election, the Republicans will be licking their wounds and pointing fingers at each other and finally we will see a politically lethal split in the Republican Party with the Traditional conservatives and moderates in one party and the crazies (Tea Party, Dixigops, and all those old people shouting "keep your government hands out of my medicare) in another party.

-- Posted by news across on Mon, Feb 13, 2012, at 11:15 PM

Well OKR,

I think there are some major climate changes coming and coming right soon. We are over populated -- way over populated -- and nature knows exactly what to do about that. All these artificial things we have made like cities, countries, and governments may soon be a thing of the past. Nature always corrects. Nature always wins. She has done it many times before, and all the signs are pointing to some really nasty weather World-wide coming our way -- all of us. However, I am not sure that is a bad thing. It probably ensures our continuation as a species but in much, much smaller numbers.

The sad part is the crazies are preventing the USA from even taking small steps to reduce the cause. I think maybe the problem is we have been too tolerant of the crazies. For example, why discuss anything at all with someone who openly dismisses science? Sure I can appreciate that they are human but someone that ignorant is not qualified to discuss anything of importance such as climate change. But what is really crazy is that such people, like Santorum, Gingrich, and Paul who don't seem to be able to understand simple scientific concepts and well proven facts, are actually encouraged to run for political office.

But as I said, I don't think any of that may matter 20 years from now. Then only a good successful hunt and a warm fire will matter.

-- Posted by news across on Mon, Feb 13, 2012, at 2:40 AM

News Across there is a horrible dichotomy between those whom are reckoned as the the sages of conservatism, and the rancorous remnants of Republicana. That diminishing minority is no more than a mob of zombies dragging behind them by chains around their necks, the candidates who dare to attempt to be the leader. Sure he sounds crazy.

Sure it sounds like he does not even understand the fundamentals of the "Separation of Powers" mandated in the Constitution.

BUT, Rick Santorum is exactly the kind of guy we need to head the Republican ticket -- no matter how crazy or stupid he appears to be.

That was a great article OKR.

Its nice to know that at least some sanity exists amongst conservatives.

However, I for one want to go on record as fully supporting the current Republican Party.

They have some great candidates like Santorum, Paul, Gingrich, and Romney. I would fully support each and everyone of them for the Republican Presidential ticket. They are all equally good. Sure, I would have preferred Bachmann heading that ticket, but what the heck, we can't get everything we want in life and sometimes we have to settle for the next best candidate.

Pick any of them. They are all equally the next best candidate.

As for the Congressional Republicans, especially the Tea Party, I am with them all the way!!

They need to keep sticking to their guns on the issues that matter most to them -- such as "drowning our Government in a bathtub," as Mr. Friedman suggests.

Sure their positions are extremely radical, almost-NAZI-like in their approach, and sure, as their extremism increases their support in their districts decreases, but for them its a matter of principles (it was the same with Adolf Hitler, a hero to many conservatives, and in fact its that same characteristic -- his stick-to-his-guns approach, as well as their mutual positions on the issues -- which is one of the things conservatives remember him so fondly for).

I hope these Tea Party Congressmen will stick to the ideals and especially during this election. In fact, I hope the closer we get to election day the louder and crazier they will get.

HEY YOU! Pssst, wanna see what a real conservative has to say? It ain't what the radical Regressives running for president have to say. Wanna get a clue as to what conservative progressiveism looks like? Ya better cause if ya don't not only is your anointed clown prince of crazy (whichever one is nominated) going to take a big prat fall. Not only that, but your entire Republican Party will follow like little dominoes all lined in a row that currently leads to nowhere. Try this instead. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/12/opinio...

Overwhelmed by what? Facts? RR3, I presume you also think that smoking does not cause cancer, the world is flat, you can go to a witch doctor when you are sick and babies are delivered by the stork. In an anti science world, all that is possible. But most of us live in a world where variances in climate will affect us. You seem to be confused about the issue of Climate Change, may I suggest you watch this video of Professor Stephen Schneider who tried to explain Climate Change to a room full of skeptics, it is very enlightening.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWgLJrkK8...

You also seem to be confused about weather and climate. Weather at a local level does not impact global climate, so anecdotal observations are too subjective. It is better to refer to the scientific data that experts in Climate Science have analyzed and had peer reviewed, like the data from NASA where they state 2011 was the ninth warmest year on record.

http://www.giss.nasa.gov/research/news/2...

An official government document was released on Tuesday that stated that Australia had had the wettest 2 years on record for 2010 and 2011 (except for Western Australia which had the driest 2 years on record).

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/more-ne...

This kind of weather is NOT normal, there have been extreme weather conditions around the world and it is happening with increased frequency, exactly what Climate Scientists have predicted with their data. Because the nature of scientific research is to verify data and frequently re check it for accuracy, very few statements about our current weather being a product of Climate Change are made until all these processes are completed, however I suggest you read Scientific American to keep up to date. Climate Scientists are not soothsayers but experts in their field.

You cite a report from The Daily Mail in the UK, this paper is one of the voices of the right wing there and not a credible source. Perhaps you should have gone straight to The Met Office site where you would have seen their reference to NASA's graph on the increase of carbon dioxide in our air, quite frightening actually.

http://climate.nasa.gov/keyIndicators/

I suppose in the anti science world, you perceive that weather is controlled by politicians, but I would have a very hard time expecting the people of Queensland here in Australia who have gone through 2 years of record breaking floods and cyclones to accept that, just like the people in the USA who have experienced record breaking floods and forest fires recently might not accept that explanation either.

As far as the private lives of politicians are concerned, I could not care if Rick Santorum's wife lives with an abortion provider, but I know you and others of your ilk do. I do however find it kind of repugnant to call Michelle Obama 'Moochelle' as this is an attempt to denigrate her to the level of an animal that people like Rick Santorum believe were only put here by 'God' to do with what we want.

Uh RR, actually she is aware of man-made climate change because she has seen the data -- data extracted from ice and Earth cores from all over the World. Those cores contain the air captured from the atmosphere from the time that ice or Earth developed. It contains all the information we need for that period and place. We know from those samples the exact condition of the atmosphere and the exact weather conditions of that exact period, and we can look at any period in the last 250 million years with no problem -- and science has looked at them in great detail.

The data is fact. The facts do not lie.

" Global Warming 101"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJAbATJCu...

"Six Degrees Could Change The World 1"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pm6hkAPxW...

In fact mate, Global warming not only brings on dramatic climate changes but it also brings on the next Ice age when it causes the Atlantic Convection to shut down. Ice ages can come on very quickly when the Atlantic Convection shuts down. That is the real threat of Global Warming -- it leads to Global Cooling.

http://www.nature.com/news/2008/081129/f...

Take for example the Younger Dryas ice age.

The Younger Dryas ice age came on in just 10 years and was the result of the shutting down of the Atlantic Convection, the result of the closing of the gap between the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific Ocean that was sealed off by plate tectonic pushing what is now central America to its current location and stopping the free flow of that Atlantic Ocean waters into the Pacific -- resulting in the shutting down of the Atlantic Convection.

I recommend you take a look at the data. You will find that we are adding a minimum of 3% carbon into the atmosphere each and every year, and that 3% is not removed by the natural cycle of plant/atmosphere carbon. That means it collects...accrues in the atmosphere. We know for a fact what that does -- we know from the empirical evidence and other lines of evidence what effect that has -- increases global warming which then causes the Atlantic convection to shut down bringing on a new ice age. Good luck with that. And while 3% may not sound like much, consider that over 10 years that means we have increased the carbon in the atmosphere by almost 1/3.

But don't worry RR, AW will be laying the facts with links on you real soon mate lol lol lol...stay tuned!

https://www.latrobe.edu.au/geosci/Downlo...

RR, you climate-change deniers seem to think this thing is still up for debate. I have news for you, the debate is over and the data won.

Man-made climate change is a fact.

The only question now is when are we going to take it seriously...'cause Mother Nature has no mercy and will not wait.

-- Posted by news across on Fri, Feb 10, 2012, at 4:26 PM

Thanks for the Met Office bit rr3, very interesting. Did you read the complete article? Seems to me that their conclusion is that the jury is still out, and we won't know conclusively for fifteen years as to what is going on.

Whatever transpires, and I don't disregard that fluxations of the sun will, as always, have a tremendous influence, it can't be good that we continue to bombard the atmosphere with green house gases. It may cause changes in the sun's patterns to effect us more drastically. Most of us don't talk about global warming, it is too narrow a focus. Climate change, to me at least, is better nomenclature.

Unfortunately it is highly unlikely I will be around in fifteen years, so reflect on your past, and give me kudos if I was right. :)

They can't forecast the weather a week to 10 days out with real accuracy. But you want to believe they can tell us what it will be like 10, 20, 50, or even 100 years from now. How many climate doomsday predictions have come to pass. Weather changes all the time from global warming to global cooling depending on the political climate and who they can get to believe it. Yes you have been overwhelmed.

rr3, I have no interest in the private lives of others and I try to avoid gossip. My main concern with Rick Santorum is his anti science reaction to the environment. As a citizen of this planet, his environmental policies directly affects myself and my family both here and in the USA. Santorum has stated that he is in favour of 'Fracking' and has totally ignored the scientific research linking this to earthquakes and contaminated drinking water.

http://oilprice.com/Energy/Natural-Gas/U...

http://www.propublica.org/article/scient...

Santorum has also stated that he thinks Climate Change is a hoax, again ignoring the overwhelming scientific data.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/07...

This kind of ignorance is a direct threat to our survival and I am horrified at the thought that he would be anywhere near the most powerful position in the world. I am no fan of many of the policies of Obama but this trend in the USA to deride science and choose extremely dumb candidates causes alarm worldwide. If you aspire to live in a vacuum and choose mediocre candidates, fine, but the reality is that any President you select has an impact on the rest of us. Maybe it is time to abandon the obsession with personal insults of opponents and their private lives and start to appreciate the beautiful environment you live in and protect it.

Smart Dog, in a well reasoned comment you stated "Will those of true christian faith ever wake up and realize that the politicians they fervently support are merely pandering to their beliefs in order to win their votes. Would not Mr. Santorum, if he was truly a christian, abhor murder in all forms?

"Thou shalt not kill"

I think that the true Christians have already awoken. I believe that true Christians who actually espouse all the words of Jesus bailed out of the Republican Party, a shrinking body, and are now a large part of the Independents, the fastest growing group in American politics. Further evidence is that for a Republican candidate to even stand a chance at being considered for election, he/she must adopt "Christian" fundamentalist positions which are the mirror image of "Muslim" fundamentalist positions.

Too bad we can't lock both up together with clubs, and knives in the Sahara desert. Then they could take things to a natural conclusion, and the rest of the people in this world would be rid of the nuisance. They would secretly love it because both groups believe in, and relish the coming end of the world so they can all go to heaven, perhaps to continue their battle even there. ;)

You should know by now mate that all any conservatives care about is making sure President Obama is a one term President...and you know why mate.

Folks with that kind of an agenda don't have any values to begin with. Oh sure they talk a good game about values...but their agenda is to make sure our first Black President is a one term president.

That is their only goal. That is there only value.

When a conservative talks about "values" he is just applying lipstick to the pig -- and thinking you and me don't notice what he is doing lol.

-- Posted by What the f...... on Thu, Feb 9, 2012, at 8:08 AM

I hope all the Missourians who supported Mr.

Santorum in the recent primary feel proud.

Just last evening I learned that the uber-christian, family values politician who refers to abortion as murder, is all in favor of murder.

An excerpt from an article regarding the targeting of Iranian scientists for assasination:

"But at least two GOP presidential candidates have no problem with the targeting of nuclear scientists. In a November debate, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich endorsed "taking out their scientists," and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum called it, "a wonderful thing.""

How do the Ultra-Christians resolve this dichotomy? Is it some sort of "murder is ok, as long it is a muslim" mentality? I thought the mantra was "all life is sacred." Apparently not.

I guess I will never be able to understand neo-con logic. It just appears that it is all about chest thumping, truthiness, and pandering. Not seeing a lot of ethics mixxed in the rhetoric these days.

Will those of true christian faith ever wake up and realize that the politicians they fervently support are merely pandering to their beliefs in order to win their votes. Would not Mr. Santorum, if he was truly a christian, abhor murder in all forms?

"Thou shalt not kill"

Seems pretty straight forward to me.

Ok Aussie Wife Mr. Obama sat under Rev. Wright for 20 years and didn't know he taught the things he did. He snorted cocaine at least once that he admitted. Oh and what about his questionable ties to unrepentant terrorists. If you want to judge people because of there past then how would you judge Obama? What do you do with that?

-- Posted by rr3yv0 on Thu, Feb 9, 2012, at 6:04 AM

Okr did you actually get that from the bible or make that up all by yourself. If it is a sin God will convict me of it and I will repent. I know as an agnostic you may feel that Christians should always be perfect sorry if I fail to live up to your standard. Judge me all you want but I worry about pleasing God not you. It really doesn't matter whether you think I please God or not, hey maybe he's not even real then what?

rr3, It would be beneath me to mention that Rick Santorum's wife used to live with an abortion provider and I certainly would not use the google definition of Santorum to describe him which is why I fail to understand why you would use such an insulting term to describe Michelle Obama. As far as America is concerned, I have always thought that physically it is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Unfortunately the decline in educational standards have led to some of the population being ill informed and easily led. The anti science mantra of people like Rick Santorum will definitely lead to a decline in the natural assets and beauty of the USA and this causes me great concern.

Your case is even a bit more special, you who proclaim that you are right with God, and tell the rest of us how we should get right with God by the same method as you, then say such things as 'Moochelle" subject your self to judgment by people as a pecksniff, and a fool. Oklahoma Reader

I enjoyed the poem/limerick you posted.

It is particularly meaningful after my recent 8 day visit to the Australian frontier town of Brewarrina.

This time around I had the opportunity to visit with the Ngemba Tribe.

They had some interesting tales to tell.

It should be remembered that the generation of Ngemba Tribes-People I talked with is the first generation of their tribe to live in a non-stone age way. They are not happy with the massacres of their parents, grandparents, and all their ancestors who were butchered and raped by the Whites who's descendent's now own all the usable land in the area and almost all of the businesses (despite the fact that the Ngemba are the overwhelming, and vast majority of the population there).

The Australian Government did apologize officially to them in 2007, but issues of legal claims to very valuable sheep and cotton farm lands and other surrounding lands remain outstanding.

It is my understanding that all of Australia's Aboriginal People are suing the Australian Government, the Queen, and the the United Kingdom in the World Court seeking compensation for their lands which were stolen from them. I hope they succeed but most of all, I hope they regain their dignity and culture which were also stolen from them.

Anyway, I took over 200 photos including photos of the Native Ngemba people and of course photos of the entire area while I was there. I will be posting them to my facebook photo website soon. I am still going through them all. I will post a message here in this forum when I have completed posting them to the facebook site so that anyone interested may view the photos.

I learned a lot while I was there and I had a great time, but its very good to be back home in Sydney too...lol.

Notice how liberals never answer a question no matter what it is. If they don't answer then they can never be held accountable because they lack courage. They have to hide behind the masses and will never stand alone. When a conservative answers a question they don't like the answer so they say, 'you didn't answer the question'. Just look at past and future post and you will see I am right, again.

Why thank you wtf you always have kind words for Christians. You must be one since you seemingly know how one should act.

-- Posted by rr3yv0 on Sun, Feb 5, 2012, at 2:57 PM

I hold Obama accountable for not sicking our Justice Department on Bush / Cheney and for letting them off the hook. Yes, I do hold him accountable for a lot of things but I won't manufacture things to hate him for.

You're my favorite kind of christian rr3yvo,

because you do more damage for your side then I could ever hope to and you don't even know it.

Onward christian soldier.

-- Posted by What the f...... on Sun, Feb 5, 2012, at 10:54 AM

Sounds like to me hatred for the other guy clouds the thought of holding Obama accountable for anything. I thought liberals didn't hate anybody. Don't they like laws against hate crimes and hate speech? Aren't they just a loving, caring bunch.

-- Posted by rr3yv0 on Sun, Feb 5, 2012, at 9:03 AM

tsk..tsk..tsk!!! lol

-- Posted by rr3yv0 on Sun, Feb 5, 2012, at 8:58 AM

rr3yvo,

I'm sure rest home treatment Obama's fault? Brought to you by the same people who will make sure you and I can't afford to pay our own medical bills.

As far as Bush / Cheney I will quit complaining about them when they have been convicted of thier crimes. Calling them "No Saints' is like referring to some drunken fraternity pranks, these guys slaughtered 1000's on people who never did anything to us and that is a fact. You can't fault them for defending THIER country.

They lied us in to war ,manufactured evidence and outed our operatives. 1000's dead. What the hell does it take for you to see them as more than "No Saints"?

-- Posted by What the f...... on Sun, Feb 5, 2012, at 8:27 AM

We should place the elderly in prisons. They will get a shower a day, video surveillance in case of problems, three meals a day, access to a library, computer, TV, gym, doctors on-site, free medication if needed. Put criminals in nursing homes. They have cold meals, lights off at 7pm, two showers a week, live in a smaller room and pay rent at $4,000 a month!!! It's pretty sad that we treat prisoners better than the elderly....

-- Posted by rr3yv0 on Sun, Feb 5, 2012, at 8:13 AM

So that's what you do with that blame Bush. How many more years can you do that? Bush was no saint but when will this guy be responsible for his own failed policies and action. What do you do with that?

-- Posted by rr3yv0 on Sun, Feb 5, 2012, at 7:42 AM

Brown skinned people we have our eye on you.

You have what we want, and we'll take it too.

From Cuba, to Iraq we kicked in your door.

It's not nearly enough we have to have more.

Beware Iran, and Syria, for you may be next.

We will find once again a white man's pretext.

So quake and shiver brown folks of the world,

our sword is unsheathed, and our flag unfurled.

Today February 4th, marks the anniversary of just another of our dirty little wars. A war that many of us today don't know even happened, and of the few that do know of it, know it only from a one paragraph glossing over in high school history books.

One hundred thousand American troops participated. Somewhere between one quarter million, and one million citizens of this little country died from the war. It started because a Republican President bowed to the pressures of rich American imperialists. It sounds a lot like Iraq doesn't it?

Is it too late to say we are sorry to the people of this nation? Are we even in the least inclined to say we are sorry? Of course not, and we won't say we are sorry about Iraq, nor, Mexico, nor Panama, nor any other of the many countries who have felt the wrath of our terrible swift sword, not in a hundred years, and the untruth keeps marching on. http://www.progressive.org/philippine_am...

In my mind the Republican Party and some of the Democrats are coming so close to Dictators, its scary! None of you seem to mind.Every one knows that the Bush Administration should be in Federal Prison, or in front of a Firing Squad it was obvious at the time, and any (sane)Person could see it now! But they protect each other. Its the only way their still walking the Street! So is this a Country ruled by Law,or not?I keep saying the entire System has to be Changed! When Hoover was still in charge of the F.B.I. most of our Representatives, Senate, Congress, walked the line! I think we need him back,Holder would'nt make a pimple on Hoovers A**

Anybody here know the history of taxes in the mid-20th century? I just read an article about the proposed "Buffett Rule" to raise taxes on the rich, and in it, the writer noted that the current 35% top tax rate is well below the rate in the 50s, which was 90%.

90%? Is that for real? I have a hard time imagining a world where someone making $10 million would write Uncle Sam a check for $9 million at the end of the year. Did that ever really happen? or was the tax code (as I suspect) so littered with loopholes that the actual tax payments never approached 90%?

Anybody know the story?

-- Posted by taxedpayer on Sat, Feb 4, 2012, at 1:48 PM

I meant Pilgrim of course.

-- Posted by Oklahoma Reader on Sat, Feb 4, 2012, at 12:35 PM

Earl U., could it be that you have spent too much time traveling with Billy Pilgim? Is that the source of your unusual uniquity? ;)

-- Posted by Oklahoma Reader on Sat, Feb 4, 2012, at 12:34 PM

Not near the vacations that the little Bush took rr3, of course you know that somewhere in the hidden depths of your mind. By the way I don't expect an answer from you on anything short pants Bush did.

Maybe, you and your ilk suffer from selective memory loss. Mention his name, and your mind shuts down. I can understand that, sort of. You pseudo-conservatives know that your hero was a national, no a world disaster, and can't bear the thought of him, some sort of Regressive-repressive disease. I would say get well soon, but I know that you all are hopeless cases that have just been shuttled off into irrelevancy. ;)

-- Posted by Oklahoma Reader on Sat, Feb 4, 2012, at 12:26 PM

Obama enjoyed 10 separate vacations and took over 90 vacation days during 2009 and 2010. Obviously Obama was not talking about himself when he said,

"If you're a family trying to cut back, you might skip going out to dinner, or you might put off a vacation."

What do you do with that?

-- Posted by rr3yv0 on Sat, Feb 4, 2012, at 9:19 AM

Should a cell phone be an entitlement?

Ever wonder what that Federal Universal Tax on your phone bill was used for? To give welfare recipients free cell phones. What do you do with that?

-- Posted by rr3yv0 on Sat, Feb 4, 2012, at 6:04 AM

When you present facts they say it is not credible or it is nonsense. Hmmmmmmmm! What do you do with that?

-- Posted by rr3yv0 on Sat, Feb 4, 2012, at 5:37 AM

One more time rr3, Obama is partly at fault. DID YOU HEAR THAT?

Bush is also at fault. CAN YOU SAY THAT. Even just once. Steel yourself man, and just say it. It will be cathartic, and you will be released from self imposed bonds to the point that you will be able to fly, long before you ever begin to flap those newly grown wings on your way to heaven.

Stop the nonsense about liberals don't blame Obama. I just did, and so have most of the others.

"If the economy is getting better then why are there 6 million fewer jobs in America today?"

"If the economy is getting better then why did the United States home sales hit an all time record low in 2011?"

"If the economy is getting better then why has the number of homeless female veterans more than doubled?"

"If the economy is getting better then why has the number of Americans on food stamps increased by 3 million since this time last year and by more than 14 million since Barack Obama entered the White House?"

"If the economy is getting better then why has the number of children living in poverty risen for the last four years?"

This is just the tip of the iceberg.

For the whole list check it out.

Liberals have no courage because they will never call him on it. All they can do is blame Bush and never put responsibility where it belongs on Obama and his failed policies taking us down the river.

-- Posted by rr3yv0 on Fri, Feb 3, 2012, at 9:03 PM

Earl I don't know what is bad either. You seem like a person that is enjoying some of the fruits of your labor. I hope you can travel the globe and enjoy the beauty of what God has put here just for us. Have a good time and maybe someday we could meet and have a cup of coffee and you could tell me about your travels.

By the way there is precedent on these blogs for a poster with multiple posting identities.

We who have followed these blogs since their inception have not forgotten JJ Gates, and his (her?) multiple personas, DA Gates, and others.

A word of caution, JJ pushed the envelope further, and further, until his post privileges were denied, and all his comments expunged.

I think I will just go ahead with believing that News Across, eastwood, and Earl are one in the same. It will make it easier for me to like the latter two. ;)

-- Posted by Oklahoma Reader on Fri, Feb 3, 2012, at 12:39 AM

Earl it sounds like, despite your millions, you have been Buffetted a bit. ;)

"A man who carries a cat by the tail learns something he can learn in no other way."-Mark Twain

That quote was used by William Rivers Pitt to open his following comment. http://www.truth-out.org/what-i-know/132...

Expanding upon the comment by the greatest American humorist, and exceeding his pessimism which is no mean feat, I say a man who carries a cat by the tail more than once can never learn in any way.

I suppose that Mark Twain's comment covers all those who voted for George W. Bush in 2000. Those that voted for him again in 2004, most assuredly are covered by mine. However, exhibiting in this small moment, that hope springs eternal, even in the hearts of cynical septugenerians, I ask our Regressive brothers to please read Mr. Pitt's comment at the provided link. No, I dare you to read it, I have a hypothesis to test. ;)

Bush / Cheney war criminals.

-- Posted by What the f...... on Thu, Feb 2, 2012, at 2:20 PM

I hear that Obama's approval rating is about 48%. That would directly correspond to the 48% of American households getting a government check. HMMMmmmmmm!

-- Posted by rr3yv0 on Thu, Feb 2, 2012, at 1:13 PM

On a positive note I hear they are hiring at the welfare office to hand out all of the food stamps.

-- Posted by rr3yv0 on Thu, Feb 2, 2012, at 6:33 AM

Solyndra Inc., Beacon Power and now Ener1 all received loans or grants from the stimulus. They were to produce clean energy and thousands of jobs. All have filed for bankruptcy. How much more can we afford? What do you do with that?

-- Posted by rr3yv0 on Wed, Feb 1, 2012, at 9:42 PM

Eric,

It looks like you need to check some numbers and kick at least one off of this site.

-- Posted by red dog on Wed, Feb 1, 2012, at 7:14 PM

How much of that spending is from putting Bush's wars on the books? Once and for all just answer this question. Where is your contempt for Bush/Cheney?

-- Posted by What the f...... on Wed, Feb 1, 2012, at 3:57 PM

I wonder if that kind of spending is still irrational and unpatriotic?

-- Posted by rr3yv0 on Wed, Feb 1, 2012, at 3:06 PM

Bush's deficit spending was about 1.1 billion per day. Obama's deficit spending is about 3.87 billion per day. What do you do with that?

-- Posted by rr3yv0 on Wed, Feb 1, 2012, at 2:59 PM

WTF; ROTFLMAO

-- Posted by Oklahoma Reader on Wed, Feb 1, 2012, at 2:24 PM

what the hell are you talking about?

-- Posted by What the f...... on Wed, Feb 1, 2012, at 12:39 PM

Why can't liberals find facts?

They aren't looking for any.

-- Posted by rr3yv0 on Wed, Feb 1, 2012, at 12:14 PM

For those that like to preach fairness. A liberal makes a mistake and the news media covers it up but a conservative makes a mistake and it is magnified several times. Is that fair? What do you do with that?

-- Posted by rr3yv0 on Wed, Feb 1, 2012, at 11:49 AM

What about Bush's illegal credit card war. Care to comment?

-- Posted by What the f...... on Wed, Feb 1, 2012, at 10:57 AM

Over 6 billion dollars of new debt in 3 years. What do you do with that?

Over 1,000 days without a budget to hide their(Reid and Obama) taxpayer funded spending spree. What do you do with that?

Total incompetence and lack of leadership in the White House. What do you do with that?

What will this president campaign on? Successes? Smearing and tearing down his opponent? You decide.
