Fall field work in January

Thursday, January 26, 2012
With unseasonably dry weather, Saline County farmers have been able to spend time in the field this month, catching up on fall field work and anhydrous application. The weather has also allowed farmers in Grand Pass to rebuild a levee damaged earlier this summer by prolonged flood waters. Above, several tractors work in a circle to move dirt for the new improved levee. The levee is being moved back farther from the river and will also be built higher than before. As a private levee, the levee is not eligible for Army Corps of Engineers funding.
