Firefighters work to extinguish a blaze at a home in Blackburn early Thursday morning, Jan. 26.
Flames could be seen shooting from the roof of the house earlier, according to a witness, and the roof subsequently collapsed.
Sweet Springs firefighters responded to the blaze, but further information was not yet available by deadline.

I live one house away. This was truly a very disturbing thing to have to watch. Our family will do anything we can to help. Thankfully everyone got out safe.It is a horrible tragedy.
Good to hear that ruralatheart. I'll have to make a donation. House fires are horrible, though its nice to get your house back, its sad you cant get sentimental things like pictures and home videos back. Wish the best for the family.
Would like to give the Blackburn fire department along with Sweet Springs a pat on the back for all the hard work they put in on this call. Blackburn did not leave the scene untill almost ten o'clock this morning, then had another smaller grass fire right after that. These volunteers put in a full work day before noon. Thanks to all the volunteers in the county for their hard work and dedication. Our hearts and prayers go out to the Hall family.
