Ila Fern "Jan" Elliott, 94, of Higginsville, formerly of Richmond and Waverly, died Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at Meyer Care Center.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, at Salem United Church of Christ in Higginsville. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the church with Pastor Doug Gilpin and Reverend Joyce M. Holley officiating. Casket Bearers will be Mike Arth, Oliver Marshall, Clifton Fenner, Danuy Summers, Keill Borchers and Bill Oelrichs. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Stanton Thompson, Tommy Drunert, David Reid, Harold Schreiman, Larry Hiltabidle and Dwight Hillbrenner. Burial will be in Richmond Memorial Gardens in Richmond. Born Jan. 15, 1918, in Ray County, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Clara (Norris) Graham. On Oct. 11, 1940, she married Sidney Muriel Elliott. She was a first grade teacher at Santa Fe Elementary School for 44 years. She was a member of Easter Star, Federation of Women's Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Beta Sigma Phi and Salem United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one son, Bill Elliott of Liberty; and two grandsons.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Muriel, and her brothers, William Graham Jr. and Elmer Graham.
