Louella Sims Hemme, 98, of Sweet Springs, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at The Lutheran Nursing Home in Concordia.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Concordia, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs. Born Jan. 12, 1914, in Saline County, she was the daughter of the late August Baldus and Ella Stolberg Baldus Weisenburger. She was a graduate of Sweet Springs High School and attended Central Missouri Teachers College. On March 13, 1933, she married Albert Sims who preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 1970. On Jan. 8, 1977, she married Charley Hemme who preceded her in death on July 3, 1979. She had lived in Saline County her entire life and was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Crutcher Neighborhood Club, Sweet Springs Senior Citizen Center and its Merry Makers Band.
Survivors include her children, Marty Heermann and Gene Sims, both of Oak Grove; stepchildren, Wilma Krause of Independence, Charlene Bredehoeft of Sweet Springs, Ronnie Hemme of Independence and John Orlen Hemme of Buckner; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Val Weisenburger; one great-granddaughter; and three sisters, Elsa Baldus Harlow, Helen Chamberlin and Kay Sweeney.
