Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Concordia, with Pastor Bob Alexander officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will be in Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs. Born Oct. 3, 1947, in Marshall, he was the son of Raymond H. Trautman and Violet Mae Kuhlman Trautman of Sweet Springs. He was a 1965 graduate of Sweet Springs High School and was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served until Jan. 14, 1969, when he was wounded. On Aug. 30, 1969, he married Marlyn Swartz Hurd of Denver, Colo., who survives of the home. He was a farmer of the area and mechanic for Scott Implement of Sweet Springs. He was a member of American Legion Post 279 of Sweet Springs, VFW Post 5649 of Concordia and Disabled American Veterans, Queen City Unit No.10 of Independence.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jerry Trautman of Kansas City and Douglas Trautman of Bates City; his mother, Violet Trautman of Sweet Springs; four sisters, Barbara Demos of Ionia, Connie Bonar, Donna Hinck and Debbie Greer of Sweet Springs; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Steven, and his father, Raymond.
