Floyd Young, 51, of Sweet Springs, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Sweet Springs, with Rev. David A. Goode officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Graveside services with military rites will be held at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Born Oct. 24, 1960, in Ventura, Calif., he was the son of the late James Floyd Young and Mary Elizabeth Weaver Young. He was a graduate of Sweet Springs High School and had lived in the Sweet Springs area most of his life. He worked at Cargill Meat Solutions in Marshall. He had served four years in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include three children, Sandra Hilbrenner of Marshfield, Toni Young of Knob Noster and James Young of Sweet Springs; three grandchildren; and one sister, Katherine King of Indianapolis, Ind..
