Dan R. Lunsford, 58, of rural Slater, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Slater, with Derrick Thomason officiating. Burial will be in the Smith Chapel Cemetery south of Marshall, with Bryon Allison, Clay Hemeyer, Michael Giger, Sammy Giger, Chris Giger and Jim Klasing serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 until 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church. There will be a Masonic service preceding the funeral at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Cambridge Masonic Lodge #63 A.F. & A.M. or Fitzgibbon-Mary Montgomery Hospice in care of Weiker Funeral Home.
Born March 5, 1953, in Moline, Ill., he was the son of the late Clay Dean Lunsford and Dora Mae Hayes Lunsford James, who survives of Hughesville. On May 29, 1976, in Laurie, he married Sheila Grigsby, who she survives of the home. He was a member of Cambridge Masonic Lodge #63 A.F. & A.M. He had owned and operated Dan Lunsford Dozing since 1994. He had lived in rural Slater since 1983, moving from Vicksburg, Miss.
Also surviving are two sons, Brian Lunsford of Marshall and Dustin Lunsford of Tacoma, Wash.; one daughter, Heather Allen of Higginsville; six grandchildren; two brothers, Steve James of Sedalia and Paul James of Hughesville; two sisters, Donna Fortune of Columbia and Debra Hendrix of Sedalia; and a stepbrother, Robert James of rural Slater. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Curtis James.
