Warren H. "Jug" Kiso, 90, of Slater, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at Peace Lutheran Church in Slater, with Pastor Mark Hass officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Slater City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ralph Gerloff, Nathan McFarlane, Bill Sanders, Greg Hays, Gene Griffith and James Griffith. Honorary pallbearers will be Beno Messer, John Kiso, Jerry Hartung and Archie Wayne Blumhorst. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at the church. Memorials are suggested to Peace Lutheran Church in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Born Jan. 29, 1921, in Saline City, he was the son of the late John H. and Opal Ferguson Kiso. On May 29, 1954, in Marshall, he married Evelyn Meinershagen, who survives of the home. He was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church in Slater. He was a U.S. Merchant Marine and Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post #78 and V.F.W. Post #4367 in Slater, and was also a member of the Friends of Arrow Rock. He owned and operated Kiso Insurance Agency in Slater for 30 years and was a retired farmer.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Sue Young of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Dorothy Bailey of Slater; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Emerson Kiso.
