Velma L. Denny, 76, of Lincoln, formerly of Sweet Springs, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, at Lincoln Community Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Sweet Springs with Rev. Gene Ekstrand officiating. Burial will be in Payne Cemetery south of Concordia. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, and memorials may be made to family choice. An online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com.

Born Aug. 31, 1935, in Sweet Springs, she was the daughter of the late Stephen Iliff and Thelma Hall Iliff. On Sept. 22, 1953, she married Dennis Denny who survives of Lincoln. She grew up in the Sweet Springs area, where she attended school, and then she worked at Lameys in Sedalia and Wilson Foods in Marshall. In 1991, she moved to Lincoln to retire and was a member of the Assembly of God in Windsor.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Ernest Denny of the state of California, Jerald Denny of Marshall, Donna Denny of Lincoln and Wally Denny of Warsaw; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one sister, Wanda Miller of Sedalia; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Floyd Denny and Carl Denny; and two brothers, Kenneth Iliff and Harlan Iliff.
