Robert W. (Bob) King, 58, of Marshall, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Marshall, with Rev. Wayne Doolin officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial with military rites will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Community Cancer Center in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Born Nov. 17, 1953, in Ft. Leavenworth, Kan., he was the son of the late George A. King and Anna Belle Brumble King. He was a graduate of Northwest High School in Hughesville and served in the U.S. Navy as a submariner for six years during the Vietnam War. On Sept. 29, 1988, he married Jill Robertson Langford who survives of the home. He lived in Marshall most of his adult life, was a Saline County deputy and served as assistant police chief with the Marshall Police Department. He served his country and God in many different ways.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Caine Langford of Dallas, Texas, Robert W. King Jr. and his wife, Jackie, of Marshall and Christina King of Marshall; four grandchildren, Morgan Tyler, Jacob Ryan, Clifford Aidan and Eli Mason King; three brothers, Tom King of Anabel, Bill King of Manhattan, Kan. and George R. King of Smithton; five sisters, Susan North of Howell, Mich., Della Horstman of St. Joseph, Debbie Vesser of Goose Creek S.C., Peggy Struber of Fredericksburg, Va. and Angela Wilkinson of Rogersville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
