Marjorie Helen Lackland Ballowe, 88, of Marshall, died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011, at The Living Center in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William H. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held in Slater City Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to family choice. Born Sept. 9, 1923, in Gilliam, she was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Lackland and Mina Berger Lackland. On Jan. 8, 1946, she married Lester L. Ballowe who preceded her in death. She was a 1941 graduate of Gilliam High School. She had lived in Marshall the last 40 years, moving from Slater, and was a processor at ConAgra Foods for more than 40 years. She was a member of Gilliam Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Williams and her husband, George, of Marshall and Rhonda Thurman and her husband, Jimmy, of Marshall; five grandchildren, Rick D. Williams, J.D. Thurman, Scott Williams, Mark Thurman and Amber Thurman; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mabel Lackland Stipes; and four brothers, Willard Lackland, Julius (Dick) Lackland, Chester Lackland and Lester (Hobo) Lackland.
