R.E. Vincent, 86, of rural Slater, died Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at Big Bend Retreat in Slater.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater, with Rev. David L. Duncan officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Green Mountain Cemetery near Buffalo. Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Big Bend Retreat in care of Weiker Funeral Home.
Born Jan. 11, 1925, in Phillipsburg, he was the son of the late Landa and Georgia Bishop Vincent. On April 22, 1944, in Lebanon, he married Alice G. Lee, who preceded him in death on June 15, 1985. On Jan. 11, 1992, in Conway, he married Jacqueline Samland Kimberling, who survives of the home. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Marshall. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He worked for Gilliam Special Road District and retired from the Missouri Department of Transportation.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Gerry Vincent of Oahu, Hawaii; two stepsons, Walter (Sonny) Kimberling and Rick Kimberling, both of rural Slater; three grandchildren; two step-granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a son, R.E. (Rusty) Vincent Jr.; three brothers; and one sister.
